    Mapokezi ya kale ya hayo makabila tajwa hapo juu ’ yaliweza kuchukua sehemu moja ya Fasihi simulizi ambayo ilitumbuiza, nasihi, taanasi, sherehesha, kutoa taazia na kwa malengo mengineyo. Maarufu zaidi katika mapokezi hayo ni matumbuizo ya watoto wakati wa faragha (mapumziko) na wanapojianda kwenda kulala Wazee wa kale wa Kiswahili walikuwa na namna nyingi za kuwatumbuiza watoto wao. Kati ya namna hizo ni kuwaimbia vipokeo, kuwatolea hadithi, mashairi na nyimbo mbali mbali nyakati za jioni Wakati mwengine watoto na vijana wa marika mamoja wanapopata nyakati za faragha hujitumbuiza kwa vipokeo na michezo kadha wa kadha ...

    Kwa hizi jamii za washwali halisi pia huwa nafurahishwa sana na kiswahili chao ni kitamu mnoo ...



    UKALE WA MAPOKEZI


    Bado hakujajulikana ukale hasa wa mapokezi haya. Kulinganana baadhi ya mapokezi yanatufanya tutoe makisio fulani juu ya tarehe ya mapokezi hayo. Kwa mfano


    Mapokezi haya yanakisika kuwepo tokea karne ya kumi na tano ambapo wareno na wazungu wengineo walikuwa wameshawasili sehemu za Mvita. Halikadhalika, kutajwa kwa neno "shilingi" inatueleza kuwepo kwa matumizi ya sarafu katika kame kumi na nane au pengine kabla yake. Mfano wa mapokezi yenye kutumia neno hilo Ia sarafu tulilo nukuu hapo juu ni huu ufwatao:




    Yaamkinika pia ,baadhi ya mapokezi haya ni ya jadi najadi Katika baaadhi ya sababu zinazotufanya tudhanie hivyo ni kule kuwepo kwa istilahi za kale na/au zilizo sahaulika3.


    [h=1] MAUDHUI NA MALENGO YA MAPOKEZI

    Mapokezi ya watu wa kale yalikuwa na malengo na maudhui mbalimbali. Yapo yaliyodhamiriwa kutumbuiza, kufunza vijana, kuwashajiisha,na kuwaongoza wawe ni watoto wema wenye nidhamu. Mapokezi haya yalitumika nyakati za kupasha jando, harusi, mavuno na wakati wa huzuni na misukosuko. ‘Kisiwa cha Mvita sasa chafahamika zaidi kwa jina Ia ‘Mombasa’ Hapa ndipo mahali mwandishi alipozaliwa na alipokulia. Maandishi mengi ya kale yametumia neno ‘Mvita’ kuliko jina lenginelo. Hii ni moja ya sababa muandishi amependelea kutumia jina hilo katika makala haya. Natoashukurani nyingi kwa dadaangu Bi. Leyla Ali Abdalla (b. 1962) wa Magongo, Mombasa, ambaye alitumia wakati wake mrefu kunisimuliya na kunitolea kimahadhi baadbi ya mapokezi haya, 10 Desemba, 1998.. 3 Mahojiano yangu na mzee wangu Shelkh Ahmad Nabahany, mtafiti mashuhuri wa lugha ya Kiswahili, Mombasa, Swahili Cultural Centre 21 May,1998.


    MAPOKEZI YA WATOTO NA MICHEZO YAO

    Watoto na vijana hujumuika pamoja kwa matumbuizo na taanasi mbali mbali hususan nyakati za jioni Mara nyengine katika sherehe rasmi, wakunga na wavyele hukusanyika kuwaongoza vijana hasa wanaobaleghe na wanaokaribia kufunga ndoa Michezo marufu ya watoto wa Kiswahili tangu zama hizo ni pamoja na kucheza kibe ndolee, ulimbo, tega n'kutege, blada, nusu mkalili, kuruka kamba, Kurusha tiara,mieleka, kirumbizi, kupiga goma (ya ropa), na michezo mengineyo. Nyakati nyigine wavyele wanapopata faragha huwatumbuiza watoto wao kwa qasida, mashairi, haditbi, vitendawili na mapokezi mbali mbali. Yafuatayo m baadhi ya mapokezi hayo:

    Mapokezi ya Harusini



    [h=3] Mapokezi yanayotolewa na tanaasi
    [/h]Yapo mapokezi ambayo watoto wa mvita, wadigo & wasegeju huyatowa huka wakitaanasi u kucheza michezo mbali mbali. Baadhi ya taanasi hizo m michezo mbaiimbaii nayo huchezwa hivi: 4 Rajiisha maelezo ya nambari 2 (mbili) hapo juu.

    Ulimbo

    Katika ulimbo wasichana hufanya mviringo wakishikana mikono. Binti yeyote hutajwa na kuingia kati kati ya boma akicheza kwa maringo huku akiimbiwa


    Barua kwa baba

    Kijana hushika barua au mfano wake na kuzunguka nje ya boma Ia waliokaa chini huku akiimba “Napeleka barua kwa baba”. Kijana huyo atazunguka huku akilenga mtu wake kimoyomoyo. Anapomkaribia atamgusa na huku akitimka mbio. Aliyeguswa naye atamfurusha huyo mwenye barua hadi amshike. Akishindwa kumshika mwenye barua basi alochukua yeye barua na kufanya kama mwenye barua wa kwanza alivyofanya. Mwenye barua huimba mapokezi yake hivi:



    Kipara ngoto

    Anaye nyoa nyele (kipara) hugolewa na wenzake na kuimbiwa:

    [/h] Anaye onaekana na kitu chepesi kama vile sufi au unyoa utosini mwake pasi na yeye mwenyewe kujitambua, hugolewa na wenzake na kuuimbiwa:


    Matezo ya simba


    Katika mchezo huu mmoja wa wanadi katika vijana atajifinya ni baba anaye nadi kuwatahadharisha watoto wake juu ya udhalimu na uvamizi wa simba. Mnadi huyo kumbe nimvamizi pia. Hivyo basi atanadi na wenziwe kumuitikia mnadi anapofika pale kwenye msemo usemao ‘nashuka chini ‘mnadi ataruka na kuwatimua mbio vijana wenziwe hadi amshike mmoja wao. Mapokezi ya ‘matezo ya simba’ ni haya yafuatayo:

    [/h]Zifuatazo ni baadhi ya ama ya ngoma zao maarufu zilizokuwa zikipigwa kisiwani Mvita (mombasa kwa sasa) pwani ya Tanga "wadigo & wasegeju" & waunguja hadi kufikia wakati wa uhuru Ngoma hizo za kale zilizosifika ni Kirumbizi, Twari la Ndia, Vugo Lele mama, Chakacha Mdodoki, sengenya Kimanyema Mabumbumbu, Namba, Gwaride, Twarabu, Sumsumiya, Mwaribe, Sindimba, na Mwanzele. Ngoma chache mno bado zingaliko katika maeneo ya pwani katika jamii hizi za waswahili ..pindi makala haya yalipotayarishwa na mwandishi. Baadhi ya ngoma tulizonukuu hapo juu zimekufa baada kukemewa na kupingwa na mashekhe na wanazuoni Afrika Mshariki


    Makala haya yamejaribu kwa kiasi fulani kutoa maelezo juu ya mapokezi na taanasi mbali mbali za hayo makabila . Mapokezi haya ambayo yanakaribia kutoweka na mengine kusahaulika kabisa yaliweza kutumbuiza, kuongoza, kufunza, kushajiisba, kufurahisha na kuhuzunisha hadhirina mbalimbali. Mapokezi haya yaliweza pia kujenga maadili, dasturi na adabu za watoto wa Kiswahili. Fasihi simulizi kama hii iliongeza ladha utamu wa lugha na kukipamba Kiswahili Hapo ndipo tukasema ‘kila msimu ukija huja na yake’
