Six cabinet ministers are visiting China for talks with the Chinese government on ways to rescue the ailing Tanzania and Zambia Railway Authority (Tazara) from total collapse.
Impeccable sources in the Infrastructure Development ministry have told The Guardian that three ministers from Tanzania have joined three others from Zambia for the crucial trip.
The three ministers (Infrastructure, Finance and Trade) will join their Zambian counterparts for serious talks with Chinese officials in Beijing. We understand that on the agenda is the request to welcome the Chinese to take over the operations of Tazara in place of the Tanzanian and Zambian team currently in charge of the railway line, the source revealed.
