Matokeo ya utafiti mpya uliofanywa mapema mwezi huu yanaonyesha kuwa umaarufu wa Rais John Magufuli umeongezeka kufikia asilimia 74.5, akimuacha mbali mpinzani wake wa karibu kwenye Uchaguzi Mkuu, Edward Lowassa.
Magufuli alishinda mbio za urais kwenye Uchaguzi Mkuu wa Oktoba 25, akipata asilimia chache kuliko wagombea wengine kutoka CCM, lakini amejiongezea umaarufu kutokana na hatua ambazo amekuwa akichukua tangu alipoapishwa Novemba 5, 2015.
Katika uchaguzi huo, Dk Magufuli alipata kura milioni 8.8 sawa na asilimia 58.47, akifuatiwa na Lowassa aliyepata kura milioni 6.07, sawa na asilimia 39.97.
Lakini utafiti huo uliofanywa na taasisi ya Ms Infotrak Researc and Consultant na Ms Midas Touche East Africa kwa kuwahoji watu 1,200 wenye umri wa zaidi ya miaka 18 katika kanda sita na mikoa 15, unaonyesha kuwa Magufuli ameongeza umaarufu kwa takriban asilimia 20, huku Lowassa akishuka kwa asilimia 20 pia.
Katika utafiti huo, Lowassa anaonekana kushuka hadi asilimia 20.1.
Wengine waliotajwa katika orodha hiyo ni Anna Mghwira aliyepata asilimia 1.1, Hashimu Rungwe (0.4), Fahmi Dovutwa (0.2), Lutalosa Yemba (0.1), Janken Kasambala (0.1) na Machmillan Lyimo aliyepata asilimia 0.0. Asilimia 3.5 ya walioulizwa swali hilo walikataa kujibu.
Vilevile, wananchi walipouliza iwapo Uchaguzi Mkuu ukifanyika leo wangemchagua nani kati ya makada waliojitokea kugombea urais mwaka jana, wengi wamemtaja Magufuli.
Matokeo hayo yanaonyesha kwamba wanawake wengi ndiyo wanamuunga mkono Magufuli ikilinganishwa na wanaume.
Asilimia 77.9 ya wanawake wanasema wapo tayari kumchagua tena kuwa Rais iwapo kutakuwa na uchaguzi mpya, wakati wanaume wanaosema hivyo ni asilimia 71.5 pekee.
Kinyume na ilivyo kwa Magufuli, utafiti umebaini kwamba Lowassa anapendwa zaidi na wanaume huku asilimia 22.6 wakisema wapo tayari kumchagua kuwa rais. Ni asilimia 17.4 ndiyo wametoa maoni kama hayo kwa Magufuli.
Kwa upande wa kanda; Kanda ya Zanzibar ndiyo inayoongoza kwa ‘kumkubali’ Magufuli ikiwa na asilimia 91.6, ikifuatiwa na Kanda ya Kati yenye asilimia 81.6, Kanda ya Kaskazini (77%), Kanda ya Pwani (72.7) na Kanda ya Ziwa asilimia 67.6.
Alipoulizwa kuhusu matokeo ya utafiti huo, mhadhiri wa Chuo Kikuu cha Mzumbe, Profesa George Shumbuso alisema kuongezeka kwa umaarufu wa Rais Magufuli kunatokana na utendaji wake kugusa kero za wanyonge.
Alisema Watanzania wengi hata wale waliokuwa wakiunga mkono vyama vya upinzani, wameanza kukubaliana na Magufuli kutokana na namna alivyoweza kufanya mambo makubwa na yenye umuhimu kwa Taifa ndani ya muda mfupi.
“Hakuna Rais aliyefanya mambo makubwa namna hii ndani ya siku 100 ndiyo maana wanyonge wameonekana kumkubali kwa sababu amegusa na kuonyesha wazi nia ya kumaliza changamoto zao,” alisema.
“Hata ikitokea uchaguzi ukafanyika sasa nina uhakika Magufuli atashinda kwa sababu wananchi wamebaini wazi kuwa anachokizungumza ndicho anachomaanisha. Si siasa kama ambavyo imezoeleka kwa wanasiasa wengine.”
Kauli hiyo iliungwa mkono na mwenyekiti wa Tanzania Labour Party na mbunge wa zamani wa Vunjo, Augustine Mrema aliyesema kuwa Watanzania walifanya uchaguzi sahihi kumuweka Magufuli madarakani.
Alisema katika kipindi cha siku 100 kiongozi huyo amefanya miujiza ambayo hakuna Mtanzania ambaye alifikiria kuwa ingeweza kufanyika.

President John Magufuli popularity among voters has grown by 16 per cent in his first hundred days in office while that of opposition presidential candidates has declined significantly according to a survey.
The poll which was commissioned by Mwananchi Communications Limited, the publisher of The Citizen, Mwananchi and Mwanspoti newspaper, President Magufuli scored 74.5 per cent compared to 58.5 per cent he scored during the October General election. The respondents were asked who they will vote for president if the October 25, 2015 General Election was conducted again today.
On the other hand the poll indicated that the opposition presidential candidates’ popularity among voters has dropped during President Magufuli’s first hundred days in office. The poll shows that Chadema Ukawa backed candidate Edward Lowassa popularity among voters has declined by nearly 20 per cent. In the poll Mr Lowassa scored 20.1 per cent compared to 40 per cent he scored during the last October General election.
The poll was conducted with a representative sample of 1,200 Mainland and Zanzibar adult population between 1st and 7th February 2016.
In the polls President Magufuli continued to retain the support of females as 77.9 per cent of female said they will vote for him if the election was to be held today compared to 17.4 per cent who said they will vote for Mr Lowassa.
Most of male respondents (71.5 per cent) said they will vote for the President compared to only 22.6 per cent who said they will vote for the Chadema flag bearer in the last October polls.
The President is also popular among rural (73.7 per cent) and rural voters (79.4 per cent) compared to Mr Lowassa whose popularity among rural dwellers stands at 20.1 per cent while among the urban population stands at 20.3 per cent.
President Magufuli is also well supported across all age groups. For example 73 per cent of respondents aged between 18-25 years old said they will vote for President Magufuli if the election was to be held today while 82.2 per cent of respondents aged 56 and above support the President.
The poll also shows that 73 per cent of young people aged between 26 and 35 said they would vote for President Magufuli if the election was to be held today while 72.8 per cent of those aged between 36 and 45 supported the President.
Only 20 per cent of respondents aged between 18 and 25 said they will vote for former Chadema presidential candidate while only 12.9 per cent of respondents aged above 56 said they will vote for Mr Lowassa. While 22.3 per cent of respondents aged between 26 and 35 said they will vote for the former prime minister as 21.4 per cent of those aged between 36 and 45 said they will vote for Mr Lowassa.
The former works minister maintains strong support in all six zones-Central (81.6 per cent), Coast (72.7 per cent), Lake (67.6 per cent), Northern (77.6 per cent), Southern (77.9 per cent) and Zanzibar (91.6 per cent).While Mr Lowassa scores stands 17.7 per cent in Central, 17.0 per cent in Coast, 24.0 per cent in Lake Zone, 21.9 per cent in Northern Zone, 20.4 in the Southern Zone, and 8.4 in Zanzibar.
