Real To Offer Ron £300k A Week- Report

Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer Cristiano Ronaldo an astonishing £300,000-a-week after tax to move to Spain.

The Spanish giants are desperate to persuade 42-goal Ronaldo to leave the European champions in a mind-boggling move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

But United say they're confident he'll stay, and will fight all attempts to prise their star asset away from Old Trafford.

Although Ronaldo has yet to publicly confirm that he wants to leave United this summer, Real are preparing to up the ante by making it clear they are willing to make him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

According to The Daily Express: 'The five-year contract on the table is worth a mind-boggling £75m' and 'Real have also made it clear that the huge offer will not be on the table in a year's time.'

Real president Ramon Calderon is currently riding high in terms of popularity in Madrid.

His side have been crowned Spanish champions twice in two seasons since he took over at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And he sees signing Ronaldo as the perfect way to build on recent successes.

United have lost three players to Real in recent seasons, with David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Gabriel Heinze all leaving for the Spanish capital.

Meanwhile Thursday's papers claim that Real could face competition in the chase to sign Ronaldo, with their bitter rivals Barcelona ready to join the race.

The Catalan giants are set to offload some of their under-performing stars, with Ronaldinho potentially heading for Manchester City.

Ronaldo breaks silence........

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence over his future by reportedly declaring a desire to move to Real Madrid.

The transfer story of the summer gathers pace by the day but prior to speaking to Brazilian website Terra, little of note had been offered by the Manchester United winger.

Sir Alex Ferguson and United's owners, the Glazer family, are united in their stance that Ronaldo will not be allowed to quit Old Trafford but their resolve to keep him will now be further tested by the player's latest declaration.

Speaking from Portugal's training base in the Swiss city of Neuchatel, Ronaldo admitted, according to Terra, that a move to the Spanish capital appealed.

"I want to play for Real Madrid, but only if it is true they are eager to pay me and Manchester United what they have been saying they will," said Ronaldo.

"However, it does not depend on me. It is important to send a message.

"From now on I will not talk again about this until the end of the Euros. It is not worth asking me because I will not reply."

On Wednesday, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said he would not risk ruining his club's relationship with Manchester United by bidding for a player under contract.

However, now Ronaldo has signalled his intent for a future in Spain, it could be Madrid that make the next move.

Manchester United have lodged an official complaint with Fifa over Real Madrid's interest in signing their Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

The English champions have reacted angrily to the Spaniards' persistent courting of the 23-year-old.

"On 27 May, United made clear its intention to report Real Madrid if it continued to involve itself in the future of Ronaldo," a statement read.

"Unfortunately, Real Madrid has not kept its own counsel."

The statement went on: "The club feels it has no alternative but to make a formal complaint to the world governing body, which it has done today.

We have only just received the documents so we need some time to analyse them before we can make any decision

Fifa statement
"The precise content and nature will remain confidential."

A Fifa spokesman added: "I can confirm that we have received an official request from Manchester United to look into the matter.

"We have only just received the documents so we need some time to analyse them before we can make any decision."

Article 18 of Fifa's regulations does not stipulate any possible sanction against Real, but does state that one club have to inform another in writing if they are to start negotiations with their player.

However, the rules do not specifically state that the club that owns the player have to give consent.

The two clubs have been engaged in a war of words over the last month - while comments attributed to the player himself have also fuelled the speculation.

Despite being under contract at Old Trafford until 2012, Ronaldo has refused to state publicly and unequivocally that his future lies with United.

The Red Devils' threat of a complaint to Fifa on 27 May came after Real coach Bernd Schuster claimed Ronaldo was their number one summer transfer target.

Following United's victory over Chelsea in the Champions League final, manager Sir Alex Ferguson accused Real of a "lack of morals", insisted his player was not for sale and criticised Schuster and Madrid club president Ramon Calderon for their attempts to unsettle the player.

"Schuster's talking and Calderon's talking," he said. "Real think they can ride roughshod over everyone, but they won't do it with us. They have no moral issues."

And Ferguson drew a comparison with Real's fierce rivals Barcelona as he fought to draw a line under continuing speculation surrounding the 23-year-old's future.

606: DEBATE
I hope the numerous clubs United & Ferguson have tapped players up from over the years come out & report them too then

HammersSpoon
He said: "In terms of great clubs, Barcelona have far better morality than Real Madrid will ever have. Real use this Marca newspaper as a vehicle to unsettle players.

"Do you not think we have had many expressions of interest about our players from big clubs in Europe?

"Real Madrid are not the only club interested in Ronaldo. But the others are not saying so. They don't get into this nonsense.

"Calderon makes that great statement 'slavery was abolished many years ago'. Did they tell General Franco that? Give me a break.

"The simple fact is Cristiano has another four years left on his contract."

United have sold David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Gabriel Heinze to Real in recent years, but Ferguson insisted the case of Ronaldo was different.

He said: "Yes, we sold them Van Nistelrooy and Beckham but we did that because we wanted to."

And Argentine defender Heinze was transferred to Real last summer after failing in a public battle to secure a move to United's arch-rivals Liverpool.

Calderon has denied that his club were trying to unsettle Ronaldo, saying: "We aren't going to start a conflict. If a club doesn't want to sell why would we insist they sell him?"

But Ronaldo was quoted last week as saying that he "would like to play for Real Madrid - but only if they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them".

Ferguson had previously said that the club would rather have Ronaldo sitting in the stands than sell him to Real.

But on Sunday, Ronaldo said he had not decided about his future, and would not comment again until after the European Championship.

Ramsey snubs Utd for Gunners

ARSENAL have won the race for Cardiff star Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh wonder-kid has decided to join the Gunners ahead of Manchester United and Everton. All three clubs met the £5million asking price but an Arsene Wenger charm offensive paid dividends.

Manchester United boss Fergie tried calling the 17-year-old on Monday in a last-ditch attempt to persuade him to go to Old Trafford.

Instead the midfielder chose Arsenal after the Gunners flew him out to Switzerland in a private jet for face-to-face talks with boss Arsene Wenger, who is at Euro 2008.

Ramsey played 22 games for Cardiff last term and came on as a sub in the 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth in the FA Cup final.

Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "We would have much preferred him to remain as a Cardiff City player or returned here on loan next season had he gone somewhere else.

"The only deal with a loan-back option was with Manchester United but ultimately it is up to the player to decide where he wants to go.

"In an ideal world I would have wished him to go to Manchester United were to he to leave us.

"But we have to be careful as we have relationships with Arsenal and want to do business with them in the future."

A club statement said: "Cardiff City were informed on Friday morning that Aaron Ramsey's preferred destination this summer is at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal.

"We will now continue the dialogue with the Gunners with view to Aaron's move being completed.

"We would like to wish Aaron every success in the top flight."
