Iran's Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said on Wednesday that the West and the United States are in cahoots with al-Qaeda leaders in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya and Syria, and US foreign policy is indeed supportive of this global terrorist organization, Fars News Agency reported.

He added that the West and its liberal democracy are ensnared in a vicious circle, and rash decisions taken by the Western countries provide a positive feedback; that is, every decision they make, worsens crises and any system with such a basic flaw is sure to fall.

“This situation can be traced back to early 1990s, when the US and UK’s reactionary Christian Zionists placed war against Muslims high on their agenda. They hired regional radicals whom they had already trained to fight the Communism in Afghanistan. They used al-Qaeda terrorism as an excuse to accuse Muslims, and launched costly, unjust, and devastating wars against Afghanistan and Iraq,” Major General Firouzabadi pointed out.

The senior Iranian military commander stated that excessive financial burdens along with ethical and physical crises have beleaguered the West in the aftermath of these wars, and the Western states are trapped in a quagmire following years of fruitless wars, mass slaughters and large-scale destruction of infrastructures in Afghanistan and Iraq.
“Zionists, who were behind this perilous plan from the beginning, mounted pressure on the US, UK and European governments. Finally, the Western taxpayers’ money was spent on wanton whims of Zionists and their cronies in Western states,” he commented.

Firouzabadi advised Western states to stop their war-mongering policies, withdraw their forces [from Afghanistan], end support for terrorism and disregard for human rights, and give up the liberal democracy which is rooted in opinions of super-capitalists and bullies in order to “save the West from the divine scourge which has plagued it.”
