What started as a Saturday night minor squabble between twins at Para Zone in Namasuba, a Kampala suburb, ended in tragedy with one picking the father’s gun and shoot his twin sister in the head.

Roberta Babirye, 13, succumbed to injuries at Nsambya Hospital, where she had been admitted, on Sunday morning.
Mr Anthony Kabugudo, the father of the twins, attached to External Security Organisation (ESO) has been summoned by the police record a statement on how his child allegedly got in possession of the gun.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Mr Ibin Ssenkumbi declined to comment on the matter directing this reporter to his bosses at Police headquarters.

“If you want facts about that issue, talk to my bosses at police and Criminal Investigations Directorate headquarters,” he said but both the police spokesman, Ms Judith Nabakooba and her deputy, Mr Vincent Ssekate are out of the country.

But according to a police source, who preferred anonymity because he isn’t authorized to talk the press, said the boy picked the pistol under Mr Kabugudo’s mattress.

“The son knew where the father keeps his gun. So after a bitter exchange with his twin sister, he allegedly went below bed and picked it before shooting his sister,” a police officer said yesterday.

In 2010, 1,861 juveniles were accused of committing crimes like defilement and assault but no case of murder was reported
