INSTEAD of encouraging them to stay chaste as Christianity demands, a pastor in Entebbe allegedly defiled over 15 girls in five years.

Godfrey Waidumba, 32, a clergy at Calvary Church in Nakiwogo, is being held at Entebbe Police Station after he was picked from the church premises on Sunday.

According to Entebbe crime chief, Fredrick Wetaya, the latest victim is a 13-year-old girl whom the accused picked from her grandmother's home on April 2.

The suspect reportedly told the woman that he wanted some assistance from her grandchild.

"But this man instead took the girl to his home and sexually abused her. The girl immediately informed her grandmother of what the pastor had done," Wetaya said yesterday.

The granny said they rushed to the church and reported the incident to Waidumba's superiors.

"The senior pastors convened a meeting during which he confessed that he defiled the girl and he also apologised. Someone alerted the Police in Nakiwogo and he was arrested," Wetaya said.

It was during the meeting that the number of over 15 girls, whom he reportedly abused since 2006, emerged, according to Wetaya.

At the Police station, Waidumba repeated the confession he made to his superiors.

However, he reportedly told detectives that he only defiled five.
