Leo ni Siku ya Umoja wa Mataifa- ni wakati mwafaka wa kutafakari Umoja huu ulipotoka, ulipo na tunapotaka uende. Ni wakati wa kutafakari nguvu ya kura ya turufu waliyonayo mataifa makubwa na haja ya nchi za Afrika kuwa na nguvu zaidi katika kujumuia hii. Kuna haja ya kutafakari pia kuziweka mbali Benki ya Dunia na Shirika na Fedha la Kimataifa nje ya heka heka za umoja huu. Pamoja na kuwa si asasi za moja kwa moja za umoja wa mataifa ni wazi nafasi yao kati medani za kiuchumi za umoja huu hususani kwa nchi kama zetu ni kubwa. Ni wakati wa kutafakari kazi ya Umoja wa Mataifa katika nchi husika.

    Tuendelee kujadili.

    One UN Celebrations

    The flag hoisted,
    Marking UN day,
    Observing Core values,
    Peace and Justice,
    Freedom and Human Rights,
    Celebrating one UN,
    ‘Delivering as one”!

    Celebrate the reform pilot,
    More coordination,
    Operating as One UN,
    Evade fragmentation,
    Avoid duplication efforts,
    Maximizes UN work impact,
    Achieve joint goals.

Pillars of and for the reforms:
    One UN Programme,
    One UN Budget,
    One UN Office,
    One UN Leader.

    One Programme:
    Responsive to national priorities,
    Representing UN sectors expertise,
    Deal with development gaps!

    One UN Budget:
    Mapping and marking support,
    One UN Fund established,
    Supporting key activities,
    Covering unmet needs!

    One UN Office:
    Streamlining and integration,
    Saves costs,
    Increase efficiency!

    One UN leader:
    Strengthening coordination,
    Strategic leadership,
    Deliver joint planned outputs!

    Government led reforms,
    National ownership,
    National systems used,
    Regular dialogue,
    Joint leadership!

    Partnership is fundamental,
    For effectiveness and responsiveness,
    Of the UN in Tanzania,
    Development partners and Private Sector,
    Civil society and Media,
It can be done, play your part.

    We plead for:
    Strong support to the reform,
    Political back up,
    Financial contributions,
    Thinking as One,
    Where there is a will,
    There is a way.

We call for youth participation in the reform:
    Encourage ‘youth voices’
Establish youth office in Tanzania UN system,
    Promote youth employment and entrepreneurship,
Support UN clubs and Model assemblies,
Ensure youth representation in UN Committees,

    United Nations,
    Unity is Strength,
    Umoja ni Nguvu
    Let’s celebrate our day,
    Long Live One UN!

Hivi kama UN haingekuwepo leo je dunia ingekuwaje? Would it have been a better or worse place to live?
