We need a leader and not a boss (Governor)
    1. Know yourself and seek self-improvement - In order to know yourself, you have to understand your be, know, and do, attributes. Seeking self-improvement means continually strengthening your attributes. This can be accomplished through self-study, formal classes, reflection, and interacting with others.
    2. Be technically proficient - As a leader, you must know your job and have a solid familiarity with your employees' tasks.
    3. Seek responsibility and take responsibility for your actions - Search for ways to guide your organization to new heights. And when things go wrong, they always do sooner or later - do not blame others. Analyze the situation, take corrective action, and move on to the next challenge.
    4. Make sound and timely decisions - Use good problem solving, decision making, and planning tools.
    5. Set the example - Be a good role model for your employees. They must not only hear what they are expected to do, but also see. We must become the change we want to see - Mahatma Gandhi
    6. Know your people and look out for their well-being - Know human nature and the importance of sincerely caring for your workers.
    7. Keep your workers informed - Know how to communicate with not only them, but also seniors and other key people.
    8. Develop a sense of responsibility in your workers - Help to develop good character traits that will help them carry out their professional responsibilities.
    9. Ensure that tasks are understood, supervised, and accomplished - Communication is the key to this responsibility.
    10. Train as a team - Although many so called leaders call their organization, department, section, etc. a team; they are not really teams...they are just a group of people doing their jobs.
    11. Use the full capabilities of your organization - By developing a team spirit, you will be able to employ your organization, department, section, etc. to its fullest capabilities.
[h=2]Attributes of Leadership[/h]If you are a leader who can be trusted, then those around you will grow to respect you. To be such a leader, there is a Leadership Framework to guide you:
[h=2]BE KNOW DO [/h]BE a professional. Examples: Be loyal to the organization, perform selfless service, take personal responsibility.
BE a professional who possess good character traits. Examples: Honesty, competence, candor, commitment, integrity, courage, straightforwardness, imagination.
KNOW the four factors of leadership - follower, leader, communication, situation.
KNOW yourself. Examples: strengths and weakness of your character, knowledge, and skills.
KNOW human nature. Examples: Human needs, emotions, and how people respond to stress.
KNOW your job. Examples: be proficient and be able to train others in their tasks.
KNOW your organization. Examples: where to go for help, its climate and culture, who the unofficial leaders are.
DO provide direction. Examples: goal setting, problem solving, decision making, planning.
DO implement. Examples: communicating, coordinating, supervising, evaluating.
DO motivate. Examples: develop morale and esprit de corps in the organization, train, coach, counsel

Has integrity. People have to believe that you are pursuing your dream because it's the right thing to do, not just because you are ego driven.
Is a people person. Understands the differences that make people unique and is able to use those individual skills to achieve the goal.Is positive. A leader encourages and rewards people and makes you want to do it and do it right. A leader is not a negative person and doesn't waste time and effort tellng everyone what they're doing wrong.
Beyond the personal traits of a leader, there are specific skills someone must master if they want to be a leader.

    Characteristic
    • Effective communication - it's more than just being able to speak and write. A leader's communication must move people to work toward the goal the leader has chosen.
    • Motivation - a leader has to be able to motivate everyone to contribute. Each of us has different "buttons". A leader knows how to push the right buttons on everyone to make them really want to do their best to achieve the leader's goal.
    • Planning - the leader has a plan to achieve the goal. He/she doesn't get too bogged down in the details, that's what managers are for, but rather uses a high level plan to keep everyone moving together toward the goal.

The Definition of the word Strong:
Someone who is strong is confident and determined, and is not easily influenced or worried by other people
    .
    For example:
1: He is sharp and manipulative with astrong personality...
2: It's up to managers to be strong and do what they believe is right...
    Opposite ya Strong ≠ weak

The Definition of the word Tough:
Someone who is tough person is determined, and can tolerate difficulty or suffering.
    For example:
1: He built up a reputation as a tough businessman...
2: She is tough and ambitious.

Hiyo ndiyo tafsiri yangu mimi, naomba kusahihishwa na wadau kama kuna mwenye ufahamu anayeweza kutujuza zaidi.

Nyerere was a strong man in the sense that he had a lot of influence within the party. We also saw how he still held influence even after his presidency and chairmanship. The problem with leaders like Nyerere is that conditions must be right in order for them to succeed. Meaning the personality must be their and the conditions to yield such influence must be the e.g. time, people's mentalities etc. Mh under current Tanzanian conditions I personally don't see that happening for now.

Well with all that has been going on I believe the conditions are right for such a leader but the personality (person) isn't there. I would differ with many and say Dr. Slaa isn't such leader and I mention him because I know

MwanaFalsafa I got You,at this time of nothing knowhow in various situation and problems facing the Country what do we need first, between having the the personality influence or the right institution influence first.I mean should we have the right personality character to make things happen or should we have the right institution to create the right personality candidates who will make things happen?
