Z`bar optimistic over FIFA membership bid

The revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, SMZ, has drawn optimism over its FIFA membership bid after the delegation returned from Zurich over the weekend.
The Minister for information, culture and sports and deputy Chief Minister Ali Juma Shamhuna told reporters that the Isles FIFA membership bid is being worked out.
The delegation that also included Mainland's deputy minister for information, culture ad sports, Joel Bendera travelled to Zurich where they faced FIFA president, Sepp Blatter.
Blatter did not promise to award Zanzibar FIFA membership but simply said he would work out on it.
"Went to seek FIFA membership and from Blatter's response we remain hopeful but there is no confirmation so far", said Shamhuna.
The United Republic of Tanzania has strongly backed Zanzibar's FIFA membership bid, according to Shamhuna.
Shamhuna said the membership bid has been forwarded with strong reasons for doing so.
Zanzibar which is part of the United Republic of Tanzania. Since 1964 has been accessing FIFA services through Tanzania Football Federation, TFF.
Shamhuna said some other countries in the world have been members of FIFA while missing the United Nations membership.
Zanzibar has been awarded a temporary membership of the Confederation of African Football, CAF and have their clubs feature in the body's sanctioned tournaments, Champions League and Confederations Cup.
Zanzibar Football Association has been at loggerheads with the Tanzania Football Federation particularly on the $250,000 annual subsidy donated by FIFA.
