1.0 INTRODUCTION:

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) was established by an Act of
Parliament No.11 of 1995, and is charged with the responsibility of
Assessing, Collecting and Accounting for Government Revenue. TRA is
currently implementing its Second Corporate Plan whose vision is to be
“A
Modern Tax Administration”.
The Authority would like to recruit dynamic, experienced and qualified
personnel to fill vacant positions in the Customs and Excise, Domestic
Revenues and Human Resources and Administration Departments for
strengthening its operations and enhanced services to taxpayers.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified Tanzanians
for
the following positions.

2.0 POSITION: SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

2.1 JOB PURPOSE

To provide Human Resources services and guidance to staff and user
departments according to the Authority policies and procedures.

2.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(a) Facilitate performance appraisal process.
(b) Ensure standards of quality of work for subordinate staff.
(c) Process staff recruitments.
(d) Attend to employee grievances.
(e) Facilitate training needs analysis and evaluation processes.
(f) Review disciplinary action proposals against staff.
(g) Assist in preparing the human resources budget.
(h) Coordinate pension affairs and facilitate payment of terminal
benefits.
(i) Assist in the determination of human resources establishments and
manning levels.
(j) Participate in the performance of staff welfare issues.
(k) Supervise supporting staff services.
(l) Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.






2.3 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

(a) University Degree or equivalent in Human Resource
Management/Development, Public Administration with at least an Upper
Second Class from a recognised institution.
(b) Three years of relevant experience in senior position in large and
reputable organisation.
(c) A relevant Masters degree will be an added advantage.

2.4 KEY COMPETENCES

Computer literate, good communications and Interpersonal skills
(English
and Swahili), negotiation, report writing, analytical and high level of
integrity.

3.0 POSITION: ASSISTANT PREVENTIVE OFFICER

2.1. JOB PURPOSE

To prevent Smuggling and implement Customs Controls.

2.2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(a) Raise tax assessments in respect of small passengers’ accompanied
baggage at Ports, Airports and Border stations.
(b) Attend to public/customer grievances concerning Customs Operations.
(c) Perform preventive duties at Air Port, Sea port, Gates, Customs
Warehouse, Transit stations, Dry Port and all other Customs contacted
areas.
(d) Examination of passengers’ baggage.
(e) Rummaging of Vessels and Aircraft.
(f) Carry out instructions as may be directed by the Preventive
Officer.

2.3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

(a) University Degree or equivalent in Tax Management, Accountancy,
Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Law with at least an
Upper
Second Class from a recognised institution.

(b) Relevant training in Customs or security issues or one year working
experience in the related field will be an added advantage.

2.4. KEY COMPETENCES

integrity.





4.0 POSITION: PREVENTIVE ASSISTANT

4.1 JOB PURPOSE

To strengthen supervision of the Customs Guards operations.

4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(a) Board and Rummage vessels.
(b) Prevent and control the importation of prohibited and restricted
goods.
(c) Perform preventive duties at Ports, Seaports Gates, Customs
Warehouse,
Transit Stations and Dry Ports.
(d) Perform Gangway duties on Ship and Aircrafts.
(e) Guard and escort goods under Customs Controls.
(f) Prepare patrols reports.

4.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

(a) Ordinary Diploma in Business Administration, Accountancy, Law or
equivalent.

(b) Relevant training in Customs or security issues or one year working
experience in the related field will be an added advantage.

4.4 KEY COMPETENCES.

Computer literate, good communications and Interpersonal skills
(English
and Swahili), report writing, analytical and high level of integrity.

5.0 POSITION: DRIVERS 6 (SIX) POSITIONS – DAR ES SALAAM REGION

5.1 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To drive TRA’s Motor Vehicles and run internal errands as assigned.

5.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Carry out a daily inspection of the vehicle and ensure safe driving
b) Maintain a car logbook by recording all trips and fuel consumption
c) Prepare fuel, oil and car logbook returns from the vehicle
d) Report to the supervisor any vehicle defects that need repairs
e) Distribution of internal and external mails

5.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

a) Applicants for the position must have an Ordinary Level Certificate
(Form IV) with a clean Class ‘C’ Driving Licence. The applicant
must have
at least five years driving experience, two of which must be in Class
‘C’
licensed motor vehicles.

b) A Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics from VETA or a Trade Test
Grade II in Automobile Engineering from a recognised Institution or a
Certificate in Motor Vehicle Driving from the National Institute of
Transport will be an added advantage.

5.4 KEY COMPETENCES

Knowledge of the mechanics of a motor vehicle, good communications and
interpersonal skills, ability to prioritise work and excellent driving
practice (to be practically tested)

6.0 REMUNERATION

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful
candidates.
