UNIVERSITY lecturers have been warned against intimidating their students into believing that the subjects they teach are so complicated that half of their classes must fail.

Chief Secretary Philemon Luhanjo also warned that some lecturers deliberately gave low marks to students whom they either hate or have refused to comply with their various demands.

"Some lecturers of higher learning institutions simply make sure their students fail in exams. The habit is common at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) where some dons want their students to worship them as gods or face bad exams results," pointed out the Chief Secretary, Mr Philemon Luhanjo, in Arusha over the weekend.

Mr Luhanjo was visiting the just completed state-of-the-art Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology, of which he was the committee chairman, and warned the institute's management not to overload the new university with more students than the facility can accommodate.

"That is how the new University of Dodoma (UDOM) started with wrong footing because within just three years of its existence, it enrolled over 20,000 students," said Mr Luhanjo and ordered the NM-AIST management to ensure that lecturers and trainers live outside the campus to reinforce moral and good conduct between them and the students.

Mr Luhanjo also warned university students against wasting their time in staging demonstrations, saying as the learned segment of society, they are expected to be in a better position to solve social and economic problems.

"If a learned person runs away from problems and chooses to stage demos, then we are facing serious problems as a country because we educate them to solve our problems, not to be crying babies," he said..........source daily News....02-august-2011

The best thing is that most students do accept the marks they got. Shida nyingine ni kuwa ukipata alama mbofu mwenzako anapiga A zote sasa kazi ipo.

If you dont accept hata hiyo ndogo si itanyang'anywa?
