Primarily because the speed of light is the speed limit of our universe and we have no hope of attaining it, let alone surpassing it, using current science.

And we cannot move back in time unless we surpass the speed of light.

Still the theory might not hold if it happens one day we surpass the speed of light... Not all conditions apply to all theories, some theories fail in some cases, a good example most laws that apply to huge objects fail when we talk of matter in quantum scale.. Who knows it might be the case when it occurs we reach the speed of light, maybe we'll get different results and not go back in time as Einstein predicted hence new theories, new laws that apply to objects moving at >= speed of light...

Something else that i'm curious.. If light from a Andromeda galaxy takes say 300million years to get here, it means no one knows exactly what's happening in that galaxy as of today, imagine if a worm-hole existed theoretically that joins the two galaxies, if one were to enter the worm-hole and get out on the other side alive, what will that person observe?? will the situation there be the same as the one we saw on the picture that took 300M years to get here? or will the situation be like what we'll observe 300M years later here on earth??

There is nothing impossible about time travel once you get rid of the speed of light hurdle.

There is no other fundamental barrier. Please read Stephen Hawkins "A Brief History of Time" if you haven't. The chapter is called "The Arrow of Time" if I am not mistaken. This is explained far better than I can.

If you have another fundamental hurdle, name it.

"Might not hold" is neither here nor there, in that it also implies "might hold".

"Who knows" and "maybe" are not premises for scientific discussion.

If you have a scientific theory that shows why time travel would be impossible once the speednof light is surpassed, please bring it here for discussions.

U call it speculation, i call it "thinking differently", not all theories work all the time. infact most theories never worked the first time until many corrections got made. I didn't say it won't work, i said what if the theory doesn't hold... You are forgetting that in science nothing is certain until proved. No one has crossed the light speed barrier...

That is why I said you are neither here, nor there.

You can't conclude that it will work or it wont.

Worse still, you do not know how to hold ideas on a scientific scale, by using scientific theories.
