    The Citizen (Dar es Salaam)
Tanzania: TIC in Land Deal With Prisons

    14 September 2009

The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and the Tanzania Prisons have entered into an agreement in which the former will market the latter's land to prospective investors.

The TIC will under the deal market 130,000 hectares of Prisons land. TIC executive director Emmanuel ole Naiko and Prisons principal commissioner Augustino Nanyaro signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) late last week in Dar es Salaam.

"We [Prisons] are confident that the land will be useful to prospective investors in agriculture and make the 'Kilimo Kwanza'(Agriculture First)' policy a reality," Mr Nanyaro noted after the MoU signing.

He said the Prisons Department had plenty of arable land, which was underutilised. "The Prisons Department has over 130,000 hectares which are suitable for commercial farming and animal husbandry," he said, adding that the department wanted to play a pivotal role in a green revolution in Tanzania.

Mr ole Naiko said: "I commend the Prisons for signing the MoU with us. The 130,000 hectares will be instrumental in boosting our land bank.

"This is an important step forward towards successful implementation of 'Kilimo Kwanza'." He urged other institutions with idle land to make their properties available for investment

    Kenya Envoy Commends 'Kilimo Kwanza'
    Mary Mwita
    12 September 2009
Arusha — The Government of Kenya has praised Tanzania on its successes in mobilizing the people for increased production and also for boosting the sectors budget share by seven per cent this fiscal year.

The Kenyan government also promised to work with Tanzania in sharing experiences and expertise for the mutual benefits of both countries.

The Kenyan High Commissioner to Tanzania, Mutinda Mutiso showered the praises during his recent tour of the Tanzania Agricultural Society Organization (TASO) grounds in Themi - Njiro area.

The commissioner was speaking with the founders and management of TASO in the Northern Zone.

Mr. Mutiso said Tanzania was on the right track towards green revolution adding that Kenya was prepared to support the efforts through sharing of expertise for speedy desired change.

The commissioner said it was high time the masses stopped unproductive cultivation and turn to well planned productivity and commercial farming.
Kenya is seeking a permanent plot to build a Kenya Agricultural Commercial building from where Kenyans would operate and showcase their achievements in agricultural production especially horticulture.

Retired Judge Edward Anthony Mwesiumo, said Tanzanians were now putting more efforts and drive to Kilimo but farmers and peasants needed corresponding positive legislation because under the present legal system the farmer is not protected from some aspects of globalization

    Ha Ha Habari ndio hiyo:
1.Kenya to support kilimo kwanza agricurtural revolution or call it by
    whatever name.

2.Stop unproductive farming ( jembe la Mkono) and turn to well planeed
productivity and commercial farming ( charity begins at home) hata
    Kenya jembe la mkono lipo.

    3. Kenya to build an agricultural commercial building to operate as a
showcase of the achievement ( kenya has achieved in agriculture so
much) that they can come and teach us.

Fisadi.Jones waambie ndugu yangu ukoloni Tanganyika haukuanza kwa sehemu yote meaning nchi yote kuchukuliwa kuna funny greedy chief i dont remember the name who gave his peice of land to the whites in exchange with beads and mirrors.Simply like that, those white invited the binamus, shemeji, kaka, dada and the next is history.

    History repeats itself.
People read history to know the present so that they plan the future.

We dont read history, we dont have it or purposely we have distorted it, God have mercy on us.
