The New Libya...

Kama Mungu yupo jamani si ajitokeze alisambaratishe lile genge la kishetani la Nato na wale wauaji wa Us?!!

A gunbattle broke out overnight when armed men in the vehicles of Libya's new national army tried to take control of Tripoli's international airport from a powerful militia, the commander of the airport's security force said on Sunday.

It was the latest in a series of clashes between the rival militias which, in the absence of a fully-functioning central government, have wielded real power on the streets in Libya since a revolt forced out former leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Mukhtar Al-Akhdar, commander of a militia unit from Zintan, south-west of Tripoli, which controls the international airport, told Reuters a convoy of vehicles approached a checkpoint about 3 km from the airport.

He said the armed men in the convoy said they had come to take over security, and a gunfight then broke out.

"No one was killed. We have only two people injured on our side," Al-Akhdar said.

Pesa za Gaddaffi?

Senior figures in Libya's new leadership have written a letter to the United Nations asking it to release funds still frozen three months after the country's civil war ended, the central bank chief said on Saturday.

When a rebellion broke out in February against the rule of Muammar Gaddafi, the U.N. Security Council froze Libyan assets estimated at $150 billion, but the bulk of that sum remains beyond the reach of the new Libyan rulers.

Frustration at the delay has been growing inside Libya, where the interim government says it urgently needs the cash to pay the wages of public sector workers and to start re-building state institutions.

The letter, sent on Thursday, was meant to offer reassurance to U.N. member states which had expressed doubts the new Libyan leadership was united and cohesive enough to be trusted with the cash, Central Bank Governor Saddeq Omar Elkaber told Reuters.

They want Gaddaffi "dictatorship" back!!???

Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Monday to show their frustration with leaders who came to power after Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown.

In the biggest demonstration in Benghazi since the revolt against Gaddafi started in the city, between 20,000 and 30,000 protesters filled the central Shajara square and nearby Abdel Nasser Street, a witness told Reuters.

Rival militias in an area south-west of the Libyan capital exchanged heavy gunfire on Monday after a dispute flared up between them that local residents said had killed at least four people.
The conflict, rooted in an old tribal rivalry, is one of the hundreds of faultlines running through Libyan society that have left the new rulers struggling to hold the country together since the overthrow of former leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Reuters journalists in Wamis, about 190 km (120 miles) from Tripoli, said the fighting was between members of the El-Mashasha tribe, based around the town, and fighters from the larger town of Zintan in the mountains to the north.

Shots, including from machine guns, could be heard and all men and boys in Wamis were carrying Kalashnikov rifles, they said.

The daughter of slain Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi has inquired if the International Criminal Court intends to investigate the deaths of her father and brother.
Gaddafi, who ruled Libya for 42 years, died in October in the vicinity of his native city Sirte. He was killed by soldiers of the National Transitional Council. His son Mutassim was also killed. After the fall of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, Aisha, her mother and two brothers took refuge in neighboring Algeria.
In a letter to the prosecutor, Gaddafi's daughter points to the fact that her Father and his son had been seized alive in a situation where they no longer posed any threat. (RIAN)

Mungu ni wa rehema ndugu yangu ila kuna siku kipimo kitajaa na dunia itatikisika. Aliwapa wakanaani miaka 400+ ya kujirudi lakini hawakumrudia ndipo akaamuru waangamizwe wote. Watu hujaribu kumhukumu Mungu (shame on them) lakini Mungu ana haki. Iko siku hii empire ya uovu itahukumiwa.
Bad news ni kuwa itazidi kuwa ovu na kututenda maovu hata siku ya hukumu kuu ya Mungu. Things are going for worse! Not economically though but morally and in terms of loosing freedom!
Be still and Mark these words!

The U.N. Security Council lifted sanctions on Libya's central bank and a subsidiary on Friday, clearing the way for their overseas assets to be unfrozen to ease a cash crisis

The Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB), an offshore institution wholly owned by the central bank, were taken off the council's sanctions list drawn up earlier this year amid civil war

After a rebellion broke out in February against leader Muammar Gaddafi, the Security Council froze Libyan assets abroad, estimated at $150 billion. Most of that sum has remained beyond the reach of the oil-rich country's new rulers.

Yet by late November only about $18 billion in seized assets had been released by special provisions of the Security Council's Libya sanctions committee, and diplomats said only about $3 billion of that had been made available to Tripoli.

Air France in contract to repair Libyan jetliners

Franco-Dutch airline Air France-KLM has signed a contract with Libyan carriers Afriqiyah Airways and Libyan Airlines to repair aircraft damaged during the conflict to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi, it said on Wednesday.
Afriqiyah has reaffirmed a contract with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance - signed in 2008 and suspended for a year because of political unrest - to support its Airbus A320 and A330 fleet, Air France said.

Air France also signed a five-year repair and maintenance deal with Libyan Airlines relating to its fleet of seven A320s, of which three are yet to be delivered.

EU unfreezes Libyan central bank funds

The European Union decided on Wednesday to unfreeze all funds and assets of the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Arab Foreign Bank held in the bloc.
An EU statement said a partial freeze of assets of the Libyan Investment Authority and Libya Africa Investment Portfolio imposed on Sept. 16 before the overthrow of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi would remain in force.

The decision to unfreeze the bank funds was taken to support the recovery of the Libyan economy and implements a Dec. 16 U.N. decision. The move will enter into force on Thursday.
