NewsId=2896822&&Cat=2

...wanataka chromosomes zake zisomeke YY sio XY, ama kweli imani zishatutoka.

,,,daaah kweli kaka, jamaa anatimka vibaya bwana duu,,,anawaachia vumbi tu wazungu bwahahahahahaaaaa.

New twist in Semenya gender saga

Tests have revealed Caster Semenya's testosterone level to be three times higher than
those normally expected in a female sample, BBC Sport understands. Analysis prior to
the World Athletics Championships coupled with her rapid improvement prompted calls
for a gender test from the sport's governing body. News of the test was made public
just hours before the 18-year-old South African won 800m gold in Berlin.

A high level of testosterone does not always equate to a failed drugs test.

But the news will only increase speculation surrounding Semenya, who arrived back
in South Africa to a rapturous welcome on Tuesday.Hundreds turned out in Johannesburg
to greet the teenager, who has stunned the athletics world with her performances this
season. She ran a time of one minute, 56.72 seconds in Bambous in July to smash her
previous personal best by more than seven seconds.

She also broke Zola Budd's long-standing South African record and arrived at the
World Championships as the newly crowned African junior champion. Then in Berlin she
left her rivals trailing to win gold in a time of 1:55.45. Defending champion Janeth Jepkosgei
was second, a massive 2.45 seconds adrift, with Britain's Jenny Meadows taking the bronze
medal.

Only hours before the race, it leaked out that the International Association of Athletics
Federations (IAAF) had demanded Semenya take a gender test amid fears she should not
be allowed to run as a woman. It has since emerged that news of the test only became public
knowledge because a fax was sent to the wrong person.

Hawa jamaa haziwatoshi.

Mbona huyu hapimwi? Tena enzi hizo hawa Wakomunisti walikuwa wanaDOP halafu hawataki kupimiwa...... Anaitwa Jarmila Kratochvílová kutoka Czeck (by the time Czechoslovakia).

Hours before her race, sprinter Caster Semenya had already run into controversy. Authorities are subjecting the 800-meter world champion to a "sex test." Could she be a he? And why is that a difficult question to answer? We learned more about the athlete and gender-verification testing.

Why was she singled out? It's said that few suspect Semenya of fraud, but in addition to her athletic prowess, it's her traits that society considers masculine: ripped muscles, a solemn demeanor and grooming perceived as dowdy in the post-Flo-Jo era. Find photos of Semenya.

Her athletic prowess: Semenya ran 800 meters at the World Championships in Athletics in one minute, 55.45 seconds. That's a jaw-dropping 2.45 seconds faster than the runner-up (who is she?). To comprehend Semenya's domination, watch the video.

Why not just a strip test? Because gender goes beyond genitals, and even genitalia can be less than conclusive. Plus, hormonal issues come into play, including congenital adrenal hyperplasia. What does this condition cause the body to do? Also, there's DNA, with XX chromosomes for women and XY for men.

Hermaphrodites and the intersexed: Some people are intersexed, neither female nor male. How common is it? At the spectrum's other end are hermaphrodites (what is that again?).

Testing, one, two: The IAAF will conduct "gender verification" by consulting with several experts: an endocrinologist, gynecologist, internal medicine specialist, psychologist and gender expert. How long for results? Get the latest news updates.

Her life: Semenya, 18, grew up poor in Polokwane, South Africa, alongside two less-speedy siblings and their single mother. She currently is studying at Pretoria University. What's her major?

The beginning of sex tests: Sex tests began in 1966, when some Eastern bloc female athletes looked suspiciously less feminine.

Past failures: Several people have failed the test since its inception. Find out more.

Royal excuse: At the 1976 Olympics, every female athlete underwent a sex test, with one exception. Who was she?

It's been a week of change for Caster Semenya, the South African runner at the center of a gender controversy at last month's world track championships.
First, one of her South African coaches quit the team in shame for not telling Semenya that she was being subjected to gender tests. (Semenya had thought she was taking a doping test.) Then, Semenya appeared on the cover of South Africa's You magazine with a complete makeover designed to silence critics who insist she is a man.
For the shoot Semenya sported a less ambiguous hair style, a designer black dress, jewelry, makeup and nail polish. Despite what you think about the whole situation, it's safe to say that this is the first time that Semenya has truly looked like an 18-year old woman.
She says she likes the look too. Semenya told the BBC:
"I'd like to dress up more often and wear dresses but I never get the chance.
I am who I am and I'm proud of myself."
Let's hope this is what she wants though.
Nothing Semenya has done in the past month has suggested that she likes to wear dresses, get manicures and let down her hair. After the controversy broke, she kept her cornrows, wore baggy clothes and pounded her chest in victory like a college football cornerback. When she returned to her hometown, she was dressed the same way. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. That seemed to be Semenya's natural inclination. This feels forced.
Hopefully I'm wrong. But if Semenya was pressured to do this to silence her critics, then this is a sad story rather than one of retribution. The opinions of a few jealous coaches shouldn't have an effect on how an 18-year old carries herself. If Semenya wants to wear dresses then she should. But if she wants to run around in track suits, what's the problem with that?
The coach who resigned wasn't Semenya's personal coach, but a middle distance supervisor on the South African team who was ashamed that Semenya was kept in the dark about the growing controversy. Wilfred Daniels said he was told the issue was supposed to stay private.

Gender-row runner Caster Semenya 'is a hermaphrodite with no womb or ovaries'

Last updated at 10:26 PM on 10th September 2009

The runner at the centre of the 'is she or isn't he?' gender controversy has both male and female organs, it was reported last night.

Caster Semenya, the 18-year-old South African women's world champion, is a hermaphrodite, according to an Australian newspaper.

It said the world governing body, the International Association of Athletics Federations, is expected to disqualify Semenya from future events and advise an operation because the condition carries grave health risks.

Shock claims: Caster Semenya celebrates her 800m victory in Berlin last month amid an international row over whether she is a man or a woman

The runner, who was raised as a girl by her family, has undergone a series of tests to try to end the speculation about her sex following her gold medal win in Berlin last month.

Quoting a source closely involved with the IAAF, the Sydney Daily Telegraph claimed the tests showed the runner has no womb or ovaries.
Caster posed for a glamorous photoshoot in a South African magazine this week

It said she has three times more testosterone than a normal female and as a result of the discovery about her sex could have the gold medal taken away from her. It added that Semenya had internal testes - male sexual organs which produce testosterone and which in turn produce muscle bulk, body hair and a deep voice.

Semenya, said the paper, is so far unaware of the tests identifying her as a hermaphrodite. The tests examined her physical make-up as well as her chromosomes and DNA.

The process involved a physical medical evaluation and assessments by a gynaecologist, psychologist, internal medicine specialist and gender expert.
The IAAF confirmed it had received a report into the athlete's gender but refused to give details. A spokesman said the data would be studied by experts before Semenya was told, within a fortnight, of the outcome in a private call.
He added: 'It is likely that we will be in a position to then decide on the course of action and any public announcement.'

South Africa has strongly defended the runner against claims that she won her medal unfairly because she was really a man.

Leonard Chuene, president of Athletics South Africa, said the organisation would advise the teenager to ignore all speculation until she had been officially informed of the results of the tests.

He said: 'Our people will speak to Caster this evening and ensure that she puts these rumours from her mind. We stand fully behind her as our athlete.'
Semenya's uncle, Lesiba Rammabi, said her relatives had been 'very humiliated' by the newspaper report and added that whatever the outcome of the medical examinations, her family would never accept she was not female.
