This information was in The New York Times recently as part of their
"Spotlight on the Home" series that highlighted creative and fanciful ways
to solve common problems.

1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just one
cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin
B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium
and Zinc.

2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda and pick
up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins and
Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for
hours.

3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try rubbing a
cucumber slice along the mirror, it will eliminate the fog and provide a
soothing, spa-like fragrance.

4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in
a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long.
The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent
undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the
area.

5. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going out or
to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem

Cucumbers grow on vines

Tango lina virutubisho vingi na madini muhimu sana katika mwili wa binadamu. Kwa mujibu wa wataalamu wetu, miongoni mwa virutubisho na madini mengine yaliyomo, tango ni chanzo kizuri cha Kashiamu, Chuma, Phosforas, Potasiamu, Zinki, Kambalishe, Vitamini B complex, Vitamini C na Vitamin E.

FAIDA ZAKE MWILINI
Unaweza kusema kuwa kirutubisho cha ‘Potasiamu' ndiyo chakula cha moyo, kwa sababu ‘potasiamu' ndiyo inayouwezesha moyo kupiga mapigo yake ya kawaida na kuustawisha. Ulaji wa matunda na vyakula vyenye kiwango kikubwa cha ‘potasiamu' kama tango, ni muhumi sana kwa mtu mwenye matatizo ya moyo, presha ya kupanda na matatizo ya mapigo ya moyo.

Aidha, tango linaaminika kupunguza kiwango cha mafuta mabaya mwilini (cholesterol), huimarisha misuli ya mwili na bila kusahau husaidia usagaji wa chakula tumboni hivyo kuondoa tatizo la ukosefu wa choo.

Vile vile, tango lina kiwango kingi cha Vitamin C, hivyo kuwa na uwezo mkubwa wa kuondoa matatizo yatokanayo na ukosefu wa Vitamin C, kama vile kutokwa na damu kwenye fizi, upungufu wa damu kwa watoto wachanga na kuota meno na mifupa vibaya.

KINGA YA SARATANI
Pengine faida kubwa kuliko zote unazoweza kuzipata kwa kula tango au juisi yake mara kwa mara ni kinga dhidi ya saratani za aina mbalimbali. Jambo hili linatokana na ukweli kwamba tango lina kiwango kikubwa cha ‘alkaline' (uchachu). Kwa kawaida ‘seli' za saratani ‘haziwezi kuishi' kwemye mazingira yenye uchachu, hivyo tango kinga dhidi ya saratani.

JINSI YA KUANDAA JUISI YA TANGO

Ni rahisi sana, chukua tango lako moja au zaidi, lioshe vizuri na limenye, kisha katakata vipande tayari kwa kusaga, ama kwa mashine (blender/juicer) au kwa kutwanga kwenye kinu maalum, changanya na maji masafi kiasi ili kupata juisi kiasi cha glasi moja.

Unaweza kuweka sukari kiasi kidogo sana (kisizidi kijiko kimoja kwa glasi) ili kupata ladha au weka asali kijiko kidogo kimoja. Utapata matokeo mazuri na ya haraka kama ukinywa juisi yako kila siku asubuhi kabla ya kula kitu chochote.

Ili kutibu matatizo ya ngozi uliyonayo au magonjwa mengine kama tulivyoyaeleza hapo juu, kunywa juisi hiyo kwa muda wa wiki mbili hadi 4 mfululizo na angalia matokeo yake. Kwa ukuwaji wa afya yako, weka mazoea ya kunywa japo mara mbili au tatu kwa wiki.

Vile vile, unaweza kujiwekea mazoea ya kula tango kwa njia mbalimbali kama vile kuchanganya na saladi, kachumbari au kutafuna lenyewe mara kwa mara, kwani faida zake mwilini ni nyingi.
