TFDA orders withdrawal of Jay Dee bottled water

The Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) has ordered the agent and manufacturer of Lady Jay Dee pure drinking water to recall all its products from the market. The water produced and packed by the A-One Products & Bottlers Ltd, a subsidiary company of Mohammed Enterprises Ltd was launched last Thursady at Paradise Hotel in the city without following procedures when introducing the product into the market like any edible product, TFDA said yesterday.

Speaking to The Citizen, the authority's acting director general, Mr. Hiiti Sillo, said apart from ordering the company to recall its products, they had also deployed the officers at various places to impound the products.

Mr. Gadner Habash, who is also Ms Judith Wambura's (Lady Jay Dee) husband, said they had received the orders from TFDA and they were currently fulfilling the directives before bringing back the product to the market after formal registration and certification.

Product recall huwa si nzuri kwa bidhaa mpya. Hii iliwahi kusababisha bidhaa moja ya Coca Cola (Dasani) kushindwa kupenetrate soko la ulaya. Lakini kwa nini haya yote yanatokea? Je ni kwamba hakuna awareness ya kutosha ya taasisi husika kuhusiana na procedures zinazotakiwa kufuatwa? Je ni tatizo la mjasiriamali kupuuzia kufuata utaratibu? Yote yanawezekana.
