PRESS RELEASE

Frontline Management launches Tanzania Women of Achievement Awards

Frontline Management, a local PR company introduces the Tanzania Women of Achievement Awards. These prestigious awards seek to recognize women in different sectors, currently working in the geographical boundaries of Tanzania, paying tribute to the most exceptional and achieving women in the country who have not only achieved success in their own respective fields but who have made a tangible difference in communities and society as a whole.

“Tanzanian women have long been at the forefront of achieving political, economical and social equality in our country. They have worked passionately over many years for uplifting and increasing prosperity of their families and communities in general. It is due time that these efforts are acknowledged and commended“ said Irene Kiwia, managing director of Frontline Management.

Kiwia further explained “We aim for the Awards to grow and enjoy national status as the pre-eminent awards for women and gain the interest of Tanzanians, the public and the private sectors as by highlighting individual successes the awards both celebrates the incredible achievement of women and provide crucial role models to encourage more women to follow in their footsteps.”

All women of all ages, background and social status are invited to participate as long as their work has been prominent in the last 3 years and have improved the social and economic situation of the community and Tanzania as a whole.

All Tanzanians are encouraged to participate, urged Mrs. Sadaka Gandi the head of the awards committee “we encourage Tanzanians to come forward and nominate themselves, friends, family or colleagues. We need more heroes and role models in Tanzania as without heroes, we are all plain people, and don’t know how far we can go.”

The judging sessions will include a committee of 8 outstanding Tanzanians from different aspects of life who will select three finalists in each of the eleven Award categories – Arts and Culture, Information & Communication; Public Sector; Young Achiever; Business Entrepreneurs; Education; Health; Science & Technology; Social Welfare; Agriculture, and Sport.

The finalists will undergo individual interviews by the panel of judges to determine a winner per category, as well as establish who will be presented with the overall Woman of the Year accolade.

The category winners and overall winner will be announced during a gala event that will take place on the 27th of November 2009 at the Mlimani City Hall where the winners will receive cash money prize, trophy and recognition.

The nomination forms can be obtained and filled online at www.frontline.co.tz or call 0614 105 186 or email info@frontline.co.tz

PROJECT PROPOSAL

Tanzanian women have long been at the forefront of achieving political and social equality in our country. They have worked passionately over many years for the upliftment and increased prosperity of their families and communities.

The Award pays tribute to the most exceptional and achieving women in the country who have not only achieved success in their own respective fields but who have made a tangible difference in communities and society as a whole.

All nationalities are considered for the Awards provided they are based within the geographical boundaries of Tanzania.

The Awards provide a wonderful opportunity to recognize and applaud women who are helping to reshape Tanzania for the better. For many of the women this will be the first time that their achievement has received public accolade. They will be awarded cash money as well as trophies and a certificate in recognition of the work that they do together with helping them further their constructive contribution in our society

The gala dinner, which culminates with the presentation of the Awards, is not only an inspirational occasion but will also be one of the best and most enjoyable networking events in the annual calendar. The schedule allows time to make new contacts as well as the chance to enjoy a series of presentations, which inspire, motivate and celebrate female success.

The awards will be launched this year in 2009 and will thereafter become an annual event.

The judging process

The nominating exercise will begin with a media campaign introducing the achievement awards, outlining what it entails and also urging the Tanzanian public to submit themselves or other parties that they may know of who fit the bill to make them eligible for nomination by a judging panel.

The judging sessions is to start with two rounds of adjudication to determine the category finalists and winners. A prestigious judging panel sifts through the nominations and compiles individual shortlists of 10 nominees in each category of the Award. Hereafter they meet in panels to compare their nominations and identify the three finalists in each of the seven Award categories – Arts, Culture & Communications; Public Sector; Young Achiever; Business Entrepreneurs; Education; Health; Science & Technology; Social Welfare; and Sport.

The criteria used will include whether the nominee has leadership skills, drive and a strong personal vision for herself; whether she is articulate and persuasive, and whether her work is relevant to the socio-economic conditions in her community and Tanzania as a whole. The nominee's suitability as a role model is essential and it is very important for this nominee to not only have achieved in her own right but also to have made a difference within her community.

The finalists will undergo individual interviews by the panel of judges to determine a winner per category, as well as establish who will be presented with the overall Woman of the Year accolade.

The judging process culminates in the announcement of the category winners and overall winner during a gala event that will be filmed for broadcast by a local television network in August this year.

All the best

Otherwise its a very good step forward, na waangalie zaidi wale wanawake waliosahaulika zaidi katika jamii!

Where are the nominees??

I suggest Mwanvita Makamba to be one of them.

1) Dr. Chijoriga -Dean, University of Dar es Salaam business school
Sina tatizo na Dr. Chijoriga, lakini, hebu jiulizeni, DEAD wa Business School ya University of Dar es Salaam atamjua wapi mwanamke hodari, aliyewahamasisha wanawake wenzake kijijini, mpaka wakajenga shule yao wenyewe? Professor, please step aside!

2) Dr. Ramadhan Dau - Executive Director NSSF
Kwingineko wafanyakazi wanaibiwa mchana kweupe, wakishastaafu, hawaambulii chochote! Samahani kaka yangu, naomba ujitoe!

3) Mrs. Mary Rusimbi - Founder and former Executive Director for Tanzania Gender Networking Programme
Samahani Mama, naomba ujitoe, usije kuaibika, kazi yako hatujaiona bado. Uliowaachia ofisi WANAWAJIBI....KA?

4) Sadaka Gandi- Counseling Psychologist
Angalia historia zao, utatambua. Wanakupeleka puta, nao unaonekana kwamba "unakula sahani moja" nao. Unataka tukupe 'data' zao ndio ujue? Pleeeeease step aside, KABLA hayajakukuta yaliyowakuta akina fulani.

4) Ms.Joaquine De Mello - Commissioner for the Commission for Human rights and Good Governance (CHRAGGR)
This is TOO MUCH! I reserve my comments, but, Ms. De Mello, you are well advised to do your DUE DILLIGENCE, before you sign that MoU!

5) Innocent Mungi- TCRA Public Relations and Communication Director
Kaka! I had so much respect for you! So much that I DIDNT THINK even for a SECOND, you could be in CAHOOTS with these sorts... they want to use your GOOD NAME, but you HAVENT realised it, have you? Please step aside, for your own sake!

6) Irene Kiwia - MD Frontline Management
Nikisema ntaambiwa nakuonea wivu. Una wazo zuri, utendaji ndio tatizo. Rudi kwenye meza, angalia upya proposal. Are you sure, absolutely sure, definitely sure, kwamba matokeo unayotaka kutuambia yatatokea ndiyo hayo yatakayokuja? Historia yako INAKUHUKUMU!

HITIMISHO:
Ni WAZO ZURI, utendaji wake ndio wenye kuleta MASHAKA!

./Mwana wa Haki
