hii ndiyo habari ya "njii hii". Alafu mseme,,,, oohhh, sijui CCM haifanyi kazi, mara mafisadi wameifiisi njiii..... mara ohhh. Shauri yenu!

Washington, DC — The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) announces that President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania will attend the 7th Biennial U.S.–Africa Business Summit: Realizing the Investment Power of Africa, to be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., September 29 – October 1, 2009.

“President Kikwete’s leadership has been crucial to Tanzania’s success,” said Stephen Hayes, president and CEO of CCA. “With a continued eye toward the development of the nation, Tanzania will be in a position to grow rapidly as the world economy emerges from the current downturn.” According to a December 2008 report by the Economist, Tanzania, in 2009, will have the world’s 9th fastest growing economy, just behind China and ahead of India.

President Kikwete will be joined by Tanzania’s Minister for Agriculture Food Security and Cooperatives Stepen Masato Wasira, who will participate in the Heads of State and African Leaders Roundtable on Agribusiness Development. President Kikwete will also be joined by Minister of Trade Mary Nagu, who will partake in the trade plenary Navigating Bilateral, Regional, and Global Trade Agreements in Turbulent Times.

The Tanzanian economy has seen average real GDP growth of six percent over the past seven years as the government continues to privatize key industries. The government has taken steps to promote foreign investment and create a welcoming environment for capital including an overhaul of the tax code, licensing foreign banks, and establishing an investment promotion center. Tanzania is the third-largest producer of gold in Africa and has vast amounts of natural resources including diamonds, coal, iron ore, uranium, nickel, chrome, tin, platinum, coltan, niobium and other minerals. Commercial production of natural gas commenced in 2004.

Sector ministers will also be represented from South Africa; Rwanda; Nigeria; Kenya; Senegal; Ghana; Uganda; Malawi; Mozambique; Namibia; Sudan; and Liberia. “For companies interested in operating in Africa, interacting with these ministers and government officials is necessary for understanding how to conduct business in their respective countries,” said Hayes.

For more information and to register for the 7th Biennial U.S. – Africa Business Summit, visit: www.africacncl.org. All working media must be credentialed to cover the summit. Please open the following link: 09 Summit Media Credential Form and submit media form to: summit@africacncl.org.

    Mwanjelwa,
I take it Stephen Hayes knows more about Tanzania than the Tanzanians themselves.

    Mwanjelwa,
You deserve your opinion but sorry,
The whole talk is about Tanzania, a country through the eyes of an exploiter!
Not through the Tanzanian eyes! Like free sexy girls' relationships with womanizers, exploiters are very strategic; they invite 'easy-going' heads of states and governments just for easing their entries into exploiting your countries. At this juncture exploiters will always praise your 'country's robust economic performance'.

If haven't, please try to interpret the stated success stories vis-a-vis the eyes of Tanzania known to Tanzanians; 2.5% gold contribution to GDP, increasing under five mortality rate, but above all the country where a GONGO, TASAF is giving US$6 monthly stipends to poor families in Dodoma and Coast regions meant to fight poverty! What a shame, conceptually and practically!

ndugu yangu, the whole story is an empty shell worthless to praise about!
    Bagambila balinsi.....

Mwanjelwa acha kuchukuliwa akili yako kirahisi. Hao wanaosifia ndo wale wanaoitwa wawekezaji.

Kama Tanzania kule vijijini wangekuwa wanaisifu serikali kama washington it could make sense.

The story deserves the respect of a dustbin in any credible newsroom in its material facts. However the so called investors may be very much interested in the highlighted portions of land, minerals etc.

Wandugu there is something watu hamjaelewa hapa. Kukua kwa uchumi it does not mean hali ya maisha imebadilika to that significancy. Tuchukue huu mfano. Unayo biashara A and B.

Sasa ingawa ukuaji wa bishara A ni kidogo kuliko biashara B lakini biashara A ndo ina manufaa zaidi kuliko biashara B. What it means biashara A ilisha kuwa huko zamani na iko mbali sana yaani ina rasilimali (total assets) za milion 65 which is very good ilhali biashara B yaani ndo wanaanza hawana kitu kabisa.

So ktk hii mada haimaanishi TZ iko vizuri hata kidogo. Bado tuko nyuma sana kimaendeleo. Hiyo growth well iko tu lakini it does not mean anything. Yupi utasema yuko kwenye hali nzuri? Definately ni yule anayekaribia kileleni.

So that growth mentioned it depend on what stage the country is on ndo inakuwa na make sence.

So kupimo cha economic growth rate lazima kiendane na other measurements za economy kama GDP, GNP, parcapita income, employment, inflation, BoP etc etc ndo utaweza jua kama tanzania iko vizuri au la. To me kama tanzania ingekuwa ni private kampuni, it was supposed to be liquidated and closed down long time agoo.
