Tanzania bans Kenyans from its onion farms

Thats what you saw in that whole paragraph???? To tell you the truth its easier for a person in Kenya to access money from financial institutions compared to anywhere in sub saharan Africa. Dont be petty son, look at the bigger picture.
stop lying at yourselves in Kenya interest rates are highest in the region! check your facts!

In business there will ALWAYS be brokers, especially if the producers are poor or illiterate (no pun intended) or when the gvt is not making initiatives to help farmers, the brokers are usually the bridge between the producers and consumers, thats where the Kenyan broker fall in, with his easy access of money (Thanks to financial institutions in Kenya), unexploited ventures and wit, they charm their way into the stores of the Tanzanian farmers and get the products for cheap through trickery and cartels.

What am trying to say is that the broker is not the devil, even if you ban the Kenyan brokers there will always be people who are ready to fill the void left by the Kenyans.. you cant tell me that the Kenyans were working alone deep in the heart of Tanzania without the help of some locals, this is not a one mans affair, there must be someone who introduces the brokers to the farmers and also contributes in setting the price, its obvious. what the government has done is simply changing the brokers, what will happen is the cash deprived Tanzanian broker will be used by the moneyed Kenyans to buy the produce for them at an agreed price, yes the Kenyans wont get as much as they used to, but eventually they will have their hand in setting the price.

No am just saying.

I wonder why you claim to have money but are still buying our Onions at a lower price. These are similar reasons that compelled us to impose a ban on your tour operators from entering our National Parks. The other time when we wanted to export our milk products to your markets you imposed a lot of bottlenecks just to discourage our producers.

You guys are sick, when we wanted to legally sell our Ivory stock you went on to lie to the entire world to make sure that everyone think we are crazy. 3 months later your Ivory smuggling rings were uncovered in Thailand!.

You guys must start to be serious, Tanzanians will never be nice to you forever the times are changing really fast. For example, if we decide to impose a general ban especially on foodstuff you will suffer for sure...your people will die in hunger...

Its amazing? Why cannt the famers collude in their pricing? Sending them to another market, is that better option? How much can they fetch in the absence of Kenyans? Guys, lets be reastic, I dont see the point here why limiting Kenyan traders to buy onions from our farmers. Tujifunze biashara. Wakenya wakiondoka na vitunguu vikaoza. Tuwafundishe wakulima kunegotiate bei na sio kufukuza wanunuzi. In the free market, demand and supply will always dectate pricing!!!

Mkuu,
Hapa umenena. Pia nafikiri ingekuwa jambo la maana sana kama TZ tutaungana na Kenya kufanya nchi moja.Watutusaidia kuamka.

Its not a sustainable solution to ban the Kenyans coz the EU can also exploit the Tanzanians onion farmers......The government as well as the private sector should provide Entrepreneurship education to farmers, teach them about pricing, negotiatiation and how to communicate with buyers. The role of the goverment and private sector institution that provide business services is to do market linkages with potential buyers all over the world and make sure that our farmers sell their products at the best price possible. The thing is we have a sleepy and greedy goverment which could also go into deals that exploit Tanzanians.Empower the farmers, knowledge is power!

NONDA are u serious with what you are talking TUUNGANE NA KENYA!!!!!!!!!!!!! mimi nazani baadhi ya ndugu zangu nyie hamjakaa na wakenya!

These are what I call backward policies, and they are killing Africa. What happens when Kenyans are banned, I mean anyone can do that middleman job, maybe Ugandans will take over, or Rwandans or any other people who know that kind of job. I think that is just absurd on the Local govt side. Man, you cannot have all, u have 2 let others have their fair share, that is how you move forward. In any case, if you have to do business, consider promoting diversity and creativity, not locality.
