SEVERAL Moshi urban residents have expressed concern over the conduct of the Chadema Secretary General, Dr Wilbrod Slaa, after losing in the presidential race in the just ended general elections.
Dr Slaa, who emerged second in the race, boycotted the final official results announcement ceremony organised by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) at the Karimjee Hall in Dar es Salaam on Friday.
Dr Slaa also failed to show up at the swearing-in ceremony at the Uhuru Stadium on Saturday, despite the call by President Jakaya Kikwete for post-election political healing.
The residents criticised Dr Slaa for his conduct, claiming the behaviour reflected political immaturity, lack of tolerance and civility.
"As a matured and respected presidential candidate, he should have joined other candidates to attend the two functions instead of claiming that the polls were rigged," Mr Innocent John, a businessman told the 'Daily News’.
He said by boycotting the two functions, Dr Slaa has revealed his weakness before the electorate who held him in high esteem for his boldness and political uprightness.
Mr Honest Peter was of the view that by boycotting the two national functions, Dr Slaa has disqualified himself as a serious candidate in future polls.
"As a candidate he was supposed to respect the decision of the people. Dr Slaa is wrong in trying to force a different verdict," he added.
Ms Margareth Thomas, a businesswoman, advised Dr Slaa to adjust his political strategies in future.
Meanwhile, a councillor elect for Mji Mpya ward in Moshi Municipality, Mr Abuu Shayo, has requested President Kikwete to provide free education and health to Tanzanians.
He said the majority of Tanzanians cannot afford to meet higher education and health bills, the government could subsidise or provide such services free of charge to equip Tanzanians with necessary skills and physical ability to eradicate poverty.

Source: to be known soon.

Guy, if you have a personal mission with this post, then put it clearly visible!

Several, not all. I think majority of Moshi dwellers are supporting Dr Slaa's decision. Need more research on this, the sample interviewed is not representative. Sory

...oh :smile-big::smile-big:
Daily News :nono::nono::nono:
Zero credibility. Hata majina yeneywe ya kutunga, maana hawana correspondent based in Moshi kwakuwa waandishi wao husafiri ktk msafara wa JK only. So sasa hivi wote wako Dar.
Mwaka huu wata-spin :bowl: mpaka watachoka... ila haina effect yoyote...

Daily News is CCM paper that never give positive comments in any of DK Slaa action. I'm also not surprised if this comment is from Daily news. Their news are profoundly biased towards CCM and as usual CCM to them is like angel i.e. never mess up.

I support the stand taken by Dr. Slaa, there is no need for an upright person like him to rub shoulders with people without integrity. From whatever source this information is originating:

1. Are they sure that Kikwete Victory is the decision of the people-THEY SHOULD READ THE EAST AFRICA- international and local observers concluded that Kikwete was supported by NEC and TISS to win. How could one expect Dr. Slaa with all the existing evidence of rigging to go all the way to HUG KIKWETE AND SMILE BEFORE CAMERA'S. IF Dr. Slaa would have done that I would have considered him insane.
2. The source of this information should understand that smiling at a person who wants to kill you gives him the reasons to even kill you faster. Changes in this county can be made by people who can take a stand like the one taken by Dr. Slaa and not the HYPOCRITS.

Yes, It is true that CCM affiliated Moshi resdents have a reason to be irked by Dr. Slaa's absence in the two occasions but no serious Tanzanian and CHADEMA member who could be irked by such act. Every peace loving Tanzanian fully acknowledged the absence as the two occasions were detrimental to democracy.
The so called swearing in day was actually the day of mourning to all peace loving Tanzanians and was seen as the height of rape of democracy by a clique of CCM hoodwinks who planned and executed mass vote rigging to facilitate Kikwete's winning.
There was no reason to celebrate and I was in fact amazed to witness double standards on the part of AU leaders who came to witness the occasion as the procedure amounted to coup of the people's will.

Again Dr. Slaa as a person had the right to attend or not attend such or any occasion judged by him as irrelevant.
Bravo the President of Tanzania's hearts!

Any news from Daily News related to Dr Slaa focusing on negativity is trash, therefore, no news, all the same. So, do not bother to post those news

The exact same could be said about CCM's leader.
