REFRESHER COURSE FOR CLINICAL OFFICERS 2011

18- 29 April 2011 Ifakara, Tanzania.

This course is open to clinical officers (CO’s) in Tanzania and elsewhere who have been in public/private work practice for at least 3 years in a health related field.

Aim of the course:
This course is aimed at clinical officers who want to improve competence in clinical medicine and clinical officers who will sit for the AMO entrance test conducted by the TTCIH Ifakara

Objectives and content:
1. To improve competences, performances and level of curative services for CO’s at the workplace.
2. To refresh clinical officers with current information to sit for AMO entrance examinations.
3. To provide access to information resources (health databases, journals, books etc) for CO’s.
The content will follow the MoH & SW curriculum for clinical officers.

Core Subject areas:
• Pediatrics
• Obstetrics and gynecology
• Internal medicine
• Surgery
• Community medicine

Evaluation/Assessment:
Assessment will be based on assignments, assisted learning, participation in panel discussions with tutors and a mock examination at the end of the short training.

Certification:
Testimonials confirming attendance will be issued at the end of the course. A certificate is awarded to those participants who have reached the acceptable level of theoretical performance.

Completion of diploma in clinical medicine and three years of professional experience

Full payment of course fees 2 weeks before the beginning of the course

Course fee:
The total course fee is TSH350’000.00[1]. The payment deadline must be 2 weeks before the start of the course. If cancellation is less than 2 weeks before beginning of the course, there will be a fine equivalent to 10% of the course fee. The course fee includes mid-morning snacks, lunch, recreation activities and stationery except photocopies. The course fee does not include accommodation. If you opt to stay at TTCIH Msasani rooms for the entire course add TSH300,000.00/= to the course fee. . If you opt to stay at TTCIH Mbezi rooms for the entire course add TSH250,000.00/= to the course fee. If you opt to stay at TTCIH Mbezi rooms and share for the entire course add TSH100,000.00/= to the course fee. See rates below.

Accommodation:
Accommodation is available at TTICH at the following rates for each course participant:
Msasani Rooms: TSH15,000.00/= per day
Mbezi Rooms: TSH10,000.00/= per day - TSH5000.00/= per person if sharing
