Security fragile in Mara - govt

The government has officially announced that the state of security in Mara Region is fragile following the spate of killings caused by the ethnic conflicts, theft of cattle, armed robberies and bhang farming.
Making the announcement in the National Assembly yesterday, the Minister for Home Affairs Lawrence Masha mentioned the areas in the region where the state of security was fragile as Tarime, Rorya and Musoma rural districts.
The minister said 136 people have been killed and another 336 injured in the conflicts , 2,421 houses were set ablaze, rendering 756 families homeless and 673 traditional grain reserves destroyed.
He said police in the region have started a special campaign aimed at arresting the situation, including increasing the number of police officers and working tools ,Manumba aelekea Kenya kutafuta usuluhishi.
