Former Secretary of State Colin Powell
has backed President Obama for a second term in the White House.

"I voted for him in 2008, and I plan to stick with him in 2012," Powell said this morning on CBS.

The Republican crossed party lines four years ago to support Obama in his race with Sen. John McCain. Thursday he did the same, casting himself as part of a "dying breed," a "Republican of a more moderate mold."

Powell set the blame for much of the recent gridlock in Washington at the foot of of a divided Congress, though he also pressed Obama to show "greater leadership potential."

A retired four-star general, Powell criticized Mitt Romney's foreign policy plans, calling them "a moving target."

"When he took over, the country was in very very difficult straits. We were in the one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression. The fiscal system was collapsing. Wall Street was in chaos, we had 800,000 jobs lost in that first month of the Obama administration and unemployment peaked a few months later at 10 percent. So we were in real trouble. The auto industry was collapsing, the housing was start[ing] to collapse and we were in very difficult straits. And I saw over the next several years, stabilization come back in the financial community, housing is now starting to pick up after four years, it's starting to pick up. Consumer confidence is rising . . . I think we ought to keep on the track we are on. I voted for him in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012."

    — Colin Powell, former Secretary of State and Republican

Collin Powell ni republican mwenye mawazo chanya/anapima sana kabla hajaamua. Mwaka 2000 alimu''endorse'' George W Bush na mwaka inatabiriwa 2016 atamu''endorse'' republican Jeff Bush

Good job Col. Always yours has been to consider the good of the nation instead of the goof of your party.

[IMG]President Barack Obama in Cleveland, Ohio. (Chris Moody/Yahoo! News)
CLEVELAND, Ohio-President Barack Obama's voice sounded coarse and tired when he delivered the final speech of a cross-country tour that had taken him to eight states in three days. About 12,000 supporters were waiting on the airport tarmac here when Air Force One landed and rolled behind the stage. With the music of U2 blaring into the warm autumn night, Obama hustled down the stairs from the plane and jogged toward the lectern and teleprompters awaiting him.
