REGIA: BATTLE OF MEMORIES- JF, TGNP, CHAWATA & CHADEMA

It is now official, Regia Mtema lived beyond her disability, dreamed, dared and never took women or disables rights for granted. She left an inspiring story as captured in farewell tributes. Yet, she is an ordinary woman who was in process of establishing herself politically. After tears, shock and pain, before the down of unequal world she will fade. Choices should be made to make her alive – could be subtle but significant in passage. Even, the legacy of Bibi Titi has been significantly proclaimed by women activists in affirming women’s contribution to liberation struggle. I mean no comparison, rather emphasis hero need living to tell their lived lives.

The question is who should take a responsibility for Regia to be remembered? Definitely be multiple actors, Chadema? TGNP? CHAWATA. Here, JF could play an active role to request TGNP or CHAWATA - to showcase or use Regia as symbol of courage and leadership of women of disabilities.

(2) What can JM forum contribute to memories of Regia Mtema? Quoting Regia lines on birth and death date? So can a forum make a commitment to use those dates to post inspiration quotes from Regia life for year to come!

Why have you narrowed down "the pool of actors?"

There could be more:
1. Biographers
2. Academics
3. Authors
4. Film makers
5.
6.

Dear JF subscribers,

I should drop few lines on the proposal.

Sure, Battle for memories, all: JF, TGNP, TAMWA & CHADEMA have the role to make Regia is remembered forever! I have come to know that Regia was a noble, disable person created with purpose!

Just remember: Hellen Keller (an American woma, who was deaf and blind at the age of 2, she later became successfull lecturer, author of ten books, and many other works. Today, Tanzania is benefiting from Hellen Keller Foundation in eyes problems in the regions of Dodoma and Singida, as well as deaf people.

When we learn the course direction of Regia, we become very assured that she was dedicated to touch the social welfare of all communities in various development scenarios (reference can be made to what she posted in JF website few days before her fatal accident); she listed a number of activities she implemented and met challenges as an MP, those for the party - CDM at district level and those for the party - CDM at national level, more than 33 activities in one year.

It should be the role of JF, CDM, TGNP and TAMWA to come together and select about two best areas Regia was dedicated and put commitment, for you all to SUPPORT WHAT TO BE NAMED AS: REGIA FOUNDATION and provide support to people (disables - either those with legs disabilities, or hands, etc), in areas like education, water or income generating activities. All these Regia was dedicated to accomplish as an MP.

We should not let this pass by.

Regards,

Perecy Ugula.
