· Songas to Double its Capacity: Africa Energy Intelligence has learned that the Songas company could shortly win a green light from Tanzania to double the amount of gas it produces.
· Ophir Tracks Trend to Mozambique: Ophir has followed the geological trend of its blocks in Tanzania to Madagascar, and bought into Wilton Petroleums block.
· A Key New Electricity Line: Seven donors are scheduled to lend money by the end of the month for a 667 km-long power line that will enable East African countries to buy and sell power in southern Africa.
· Michael Howard - Retired British politicians are increasingly re-cycling themselves into African oil. After Mark Malloch Brown at Vitol, the former leader of Britains Conservative Party, Michael Howard, joined the board of Britains Orca Exploration on July 20.
· Corrupt Officials at the TRA: Corruption at the port of Dar es Salaam is nothing new. What is new, on the other hand, is the discovery of complicity inside the Tanzania Revenue Authority.
· Bank of Africa: Its not only the Tanzanian and Ugandan subsidiaries of Bank of Africa that will receive support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank) to expand their activity of providing credit for SMBs (ION 1288).
