PRESIDENT of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete is scheduled to pay an official visit to Jamaica next month.
Daryl Vaz, the minister with responsibility for information, told yesterday's post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House that the official visit is planned for November 24 to 26.
Jamaica and the African nation, Vaz said, shared several similarities.
"The Government of Tanzania has introduced reforms, which resulted in economic growth of five to seven per cent prior to the global recession," said Vaz, adding that Jamaica was also considering reforms with similar objectives.
The last Tanzanian president to visit Jamaica was Julius Nyerere in the 1970s.
