Polish leader, 96 others dead in Russia jet crash

SMOLENSK, Russia – An aging Russian airliner carrying Polish President Lech Kaczynski and members of his country's military, political and church elites crashed in thick fog Saturday as it took them to a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the slaughter of thousands of Polish military officers by Soviet secret police.
Poles wept before their televisions, lowered flags to half-staff and taped black ribbons in their windows after hearing that the upper echelons of the establishment lay dead in woods a short drive from the site of the Katyn forest massacre, one of Poland's greatest national traumas.
Thousands of people, many in tears, placed candles and flowers at the presidential palace in central Warsaw. Many called the crash Poland's worst disaster since World War II.
Twenty monks rang the Zygmunt bell at Krakow's Wawel Cathedral — the burial spot of Polish kings — a tolling reserved for times of profound importance or grief.
The crash also shocked Russia. Sensing the depth of the tragedy for Poland, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin personally took charge of the investigation and very quickly and publicly offered condolences, along with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Polish President killed in air crash

THE Polish President Lech Kaczynski has been killed along with 95 others when his plane crashed while coming in to land in western Russia.

The governor of the Smolensk region, where the crash took place on Saturday morning said no one had survived.
Sergei Anufriev told state news channel Rossiya-24 the plane had crashed after hitting trees.
He said: "The Polish presidential plane did not make it to the runway while landing.
"It hit the treetops and fell apart, nobody has survived the disaster."

In a message of condolence, the Queen described her "sorrow" and sent her "deepest sympathy" to the government and the people of Poland.
The Prince of Wales also expressed his sadness, along with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Foreign Secretary David Miliband and Tory leader David Cameron.
Dozens of senior figures from the Polish government and military as well as the President's wife Maria also perished in the crash.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who personally assumed charge of the investigation, was due to meet Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk later.
A week of national mourning was declared and Mr Tusk called for a two-minute silence to be held on Sunday.
Poland has declared a week of national mourning today to mark the disaster.

The president and his party were visiting Smolensk to mark the 70th anniversary of the massacre of thousands of Polish officers by Soviet secret police.
Reports say pilot error is suspected to be the reason why the plane crashed in thick fog while approaching an airport in the western Russian region.
The body of Mr Kaczynski was recovered from the wreckage by emergency workers hours after the crash.
Poland's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Piotr Paszkowski, said: "We still cannot fully understand the scope of this tragedy and what it means for us in the future. Nothing like this has ever happened in Poland,"
"We can assume with great certainty that all persons on board have been killed."
A Polish government spokesman today announced that Poland will be holding an early presidential election after the crash
Pawel Gras said: "In line with the constitution, we will have to hold an early presidential poll,"
"For now, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, Bronislaw Komorowski, is automatically ... the acting president."
The election date must be announced within two weeks and the election must take place within two months of the announcement.
In a formal statement released by Downing Street today Gordon Brown said: "President Kaczynski was one of the defining actors in Poland's modern political history.
"From his role in the Solidarity movement to his long and distinguished career in public service - including as Justice Minister, Mayor of Warsaw, and most recently as President of Poland - he will mourned across the world and remembered as a passionate patriot and democrat.
"My thoughts are with his family and countrymen at this most difficult of times."
The crash is likely to be a setback in Polish-Russian relations, which had been improving of late after being poisoned for decades over the Katyn massacre.
Russia never has formally apologised for the murders of some 22,000 Polish officers, but Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's decision to attend a memorial ceremony earlier this week in the forest near Katyn was seen as a gesture of goodwill toward reconciliation.

Rossiya-24 showed hundreds of people around the Katyn monument, many holding Polish flags, some weeping.
In Warsaw the national flag was lowered to half-staff at the presidential palace, where people gathered to lay flowers and light candles.
Black ribbons appeared in some windows in the Polish capital.
Poland's president is commander-in-chief of its armed forces but the position's, domestic duties are chiefly symbolic.

There were violent thunderstorms in the area, and visibility was poor. The Soviet pilot thought he was descending at the airport of Mozambique capital Maputo, when in fact the airport was still 45 miles off.

Sawa ndege ilikuwa built imara lakini kuna factors nyingi zinazo weza athiri ubora wa kitu.
1)Umri: Kitu chochote jinsi kinavyo zeeka ndivyo kinavyo zidi kuchoka na hii ni kuanzia binadamu mpaka vitu vya kutengenezwa.
2)Utunzaji: Sawa ndege ni imara lakini utunzwaji wake uli kuaje?

Nilichosema mie ni kuwa hii ndege haikuanguka kwa ubovu. Wachunguzi wote wanasema sasa wazi kabisa kuwa ndege ilikuwa nzima. Sasa unavyozidi kusema kuwa ubovu wa ndege au uzee wa ndege nashindwa kukuelewa. Nimeandika tu kuwa ndege ilikuwa ya imerudi kutoka kwenye matengenezo makubwa sana huko Russia. Walikuwa wameweka vifaa vingi vipya na technology mpya inayotumika kwa sasa duniani kwa chombo kinachobeba viongozi wa serikali. Uzee wa ndege (kweli ilikuwa imezeeka) haukusababisha ndege ianguke ila ni ukungu na makosa ya kibinadamu. Waandishi wa habari wamekiri kuwa kutokununua ndege mpya, na wao wamechangia sana. Kama mtu alianza tu kusema kununua ndege, walimla mzima mzima. Sasa angelinunua cha moto angelikiona.

Sasa hivi hapa Poland, kuna majungu yanasema kuwa Rubani alilazimishwa kutua. Kuna kesi kadhaa zilishawahi kutokea huko nyuma kwa Marehemu Rais kulazimisha ndege kutua. Kuna rubani alimgomea na akaenda kutua sehemu nyingine na jamaa alipata kashkash. Aliambiwa na Rais kuwa Mwanajeshi huwezi ukawa Kunguru namna hiyo, inabidi uwe jasiri.

Kitu kibaya na kizuri kwa Poland ni kuwa, Marubani wote ni Wanajeshi. Uzuri ni kwa sababu, hawa marubani wa jeshi ni wazuri sana na wamefanya mazoezi na kuendesha ndege za kivita ambazo huwa ni ngumu zaidi ya hizi za kiraia. Ubaya uliopo ni kuwa, wanapokuwa na Rais ambaye ni amiri jeshi, Mageneral na nyota zao mabegani, inabidi watii amri. Kama ulipitia jeshini utakuwa unalifahamu hili. Kama hukupitia JKT, basi sidhani kama utakuwa unaelewa mie naongelea nini.

1. Video ya kwanza ni katika lugha ya Kipolish. Wanasema kuwa Ndege iliondoka Warsaw kwenda Smolensk. Dakika 10 kabla ya kutua, rubani aliambiwa na control tower kuwa kuna ukungu mkubwa sana uwanjani. Marubani walirudia mara kadhaa kuwa wanataka kutua hapo. Ndege ilizunguka uwanja mara 3 ili kuweza kufahamu hali halisi ilivyo hapo Uwanjani na kuweka kwenye kumbukumbu Auto-pilot. Kila kitu kilienda sawa hadi wakati wanakuja mara ya nne, wakiwa umbali wa mita 1,500, ndege ilipunguza sana urefu (height) na ikaja ikagonga antena ya control tower, baadaye miti na mwisho......... Ilitosha wangelikuwa mita 10 juu, wasingelianguka. Angalia Video:

Naangalia Mazishi kwa sasa. Viongozi wa juu kama Russia nimeona akiondoka kupanda pipa kurudi Russia. Wamebaki kama sikosei mabalozi wa nchi mbalimbali wanaowakilisha nchi zao hapa Poland. Kwa Tanzania naona pia tumefika tukiwakilishwa na balozi J. E. Ahmada Rweyemamu Ngemera. Kwa sasa naona kasimama kwenye foleni ndefu akisubiri kuweka sahihi kwenye kitabu cha Maombolezo.
