Palestinian submit bid for statehood at The United Nations

SOBY, when given a free choice, Palestinian Arabs prefer to work for Jewish employers and to shop in Israeli stores. They know they won’t find good work among their fellow Arabs and they won’t find things they need that are good in quality as those made in Israel. Don’t watch what they say – watch what they do. There may never be a formal peace between Israel and them but there already is a sort of informal day to day to co-existence – the kind the world says should be replaced by a fence and a boycott of Israel.
The reason behind this is, they don't have the means to produce and conduct commerce as freely as Israel does. Is the same as saying Africans prefer European goods.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is reportedly processing the Palestinian Authority (PA)'s demand for the UN's recognition of Palestine as an independent member state.

According to AP, Lebanon's UN ambassador, Nawaf Salam, who currently holds the UNSC's presidency, reported at the world body's headquarters in New York on Wednesday on the status of the Palestinian request.
He said he had referred the motion to the "the committee on the admission of new members" in the absence of any proposal blocking the process.

The committee, which is made up of the UNSC's all 15 member states, will discuss the matter on Friday.
The acting PA ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, thanked the council for unanimously agreeing to take action on the Palestinian application.
He told the reporters: "We hope this process not to take too long before we see positive action."

The acting PA Chief Mahmud Abbas presented the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with the statehood proposal on Friday during the UN General Assembly's 66th annual session in New York.

Later in the day, the council met for only two minutes to discuss the request, despite it having evolved into a focal point of the session.
The PA has reportedly secured the support of ten of the UNSC's membership with India, Nigeria, Gabon, and Bosnia most recently siding with the Palestinians on the issue.

Why don't they have?

Hivi kwa nini so called "world powers" hawataki Palestina iwe nchi, kwani wakati wanairuhusu Israel 1948 walitumia vigezo gani? naona kama Hakuna tofauti palestina ya 2011 na wayahudi wakati wanadai nchi yao 1948...

A bid for statehood at the UN sets member countries on a collision course.
Barack Obama, the US president, has told Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, that he will veto the latter's bid for UN membership.
Obama said this in an attempt to persuade his Palestinian counterpart to drop the plans. But Abbas vowed to press ahead during a meeting with Obama, the White House said later.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, says that a US veto could spark another cycle of violence in the region.
In this episode we ask: Why are the Palestinians insisting on full recognition and why is the US determined to block it? Has the UN become a diplomatic battleground? How does this affect the Middle East peace process? Can the US remain an honest broker?
Inside Story, with presenter Laura Kyle, discusses with Mustafa Barghouti, the head of the Palestinian National Initiative; Shlomo Ben-Ami, a former Israeli foreign minister and currently the vice-president of the Toledo International Centre for Peace; and Josh Lockman, a law lecturer at the Univeristy of Southern California and an expert in US foreign policy.

Hivi kuna jipya watapata hawa Palestina? This has been going on for years now

[h=1]Israel Accepts Quartet Proposal to Resume Peace Talks[/h]

Robert Berger | Jerusalem October 02, 2011

As the Palestinians seek statehood recognition at the United Nations, Israel has given its official response to an international effort to revive the Middle East peace process.
Israel has welcomed a proposal by international mediators to resume peace talks with the Palestinians “immediately and without preconditions.”
The Quartet of Middle East mediators, the United States, European Union, United Nations and Russia, unveiled the proposal more than a week ago after the Palestinians submitted a request for statehood recognition at the U.N.
The U.S. opposes the statehood bid, saying Palestinian independence should be achieved through negotiations with Israel. The Quartet called for a resumption of peace talks in a month, and a framework peace agreement on Palestinian statehood by the end of 2012.
Israeli spokesman Mark Regev urged the Palestinians to abandon the effort for statehood at the U.N. and return to the negotiating table.
“Israel is willing and has been willing for the immediate resumption of talks. We hope the Palestinian side will pick up the ball and we will indeed see a restarting of the Middle East peace process.”

The Quartet proposal says peace talks should resume without preconditions. But the Palestinians say a Quartet reference to the “Roadmap” peace plan of 2003 backs their key condition for resuming negotiations: a freeze on all Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should keep his commitments under the Roadmap.
“He has an obligation called settlements. It’s not a precondition! It’s not a precondition; it’s an obligation on him to stop settlement activities.”
Israel threw a wrench into peace efforts last week, when it announced plans to build 1,100 new housing units in East Jerusalem, on land Israel annexed after the 1967 war. The Palestinians want East Jerusalem to be the capital of a future state. The U.S. and EU criticized the Israeli move. But Israel says all of Jerusalem is its capital, not a settlement, and it can build anywhere in the city.

Cos they don't get as much aid as Israel, and they can't even trade! remember the Gaza flottilla?

Aid? From western world? Why can't the A'rabs help them? Do you see the problem is from same arabs who can't even help their fellas. It is shame and sad for arabs to look for aids from Kafirs.

I believe a Palestine dream is over. Do Palestine thinks that the "World" do care?
