    1. Regional Nutrition Coordinator/Jump Start Projects

    ORGANISATION: World Vision

    Description:

    Addressing malnutrition and improving the nutritional status of children and mothers is a key programmatic focus of the Africa health strategy. The purpose of the position is to provide technical support and coordination of nutrition programming with a special focus on the nutrition jump start projects to be implemented in 6 countries in East, Southern and West Africa area. The primary purpose is to support NOs build capacity and implement selected projects and ensure alignment with the Africa health strategy. The position is to assist WV National Offices to develop the capacity and gain adequate resources to effectively scale up and implement community based nutrition interventions that are recommended in the Africa health strategy. Special focus will be on rolling out the community therapeutic care (CTC) approach to addressing malnutrition and other key interventions and programming models as identified in the various projects.     Requirements:
    • Masters or equivalent degree in nutrition and child health. An undergraduate degree in a nutrition and/or health related discipline is preferable. Must demonstrate understanding or experience in nutrition programming. A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing community based nutrition projects in developing countries.
    • Excellent skills required in program design, reporting and documentation, and monitoring and evaluation, and in managing by results. Knowledge of World Vision operations, regional and national office programming preferable. Must be a creative individual with strong sense of vision, commitment and priorities. Must have strong organizational skills and an ability to work with diverse teams across considerable distances. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills.     Responsibilities
    The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP's Division of Environmental Policy Implementation (DEPI) works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and advisory services for strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition.     Under the supervision of the Director, DEPI, the incumbent will plan and implement urban environment activities for UNEP. As Head of the Urban Environment Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the overall management of the Unit.     QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

    Work Experience
    Minimum of seven years of progressive working experience in addressing urban environment issues, preferably including clean fuels and vehicles issues. Of which at least 5 years should be at the international level, preferably within the UN system. Working experience should include the management of a team/unit. Knowledge of/working experience with international organizations involved in urban environment issues is an asset.

    Languages
    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post fluency in written and spoken English is required. Working knowledge of other official United Nations languages would be an asset.
