James delivered on a promise from two years ago to bring a championship to his native northeast Ohio, and he and the Cavs became the first team to rally from a 3-1 finals deficit by beating the defending champion Golden State Warriors 93-89 on Sunday night to end a 52-year major sports championship drought in Cleveland.

James almost single-handedly carried the Cavs back into this series and finished with 27 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds as the Cavs captured their first championship in franchise history and gave their city its first major sports winner since the Browns won the NFL title in 1964.

"CLEVELAND! This is for you!" James bellowed in his postgame interview before being announced as the NBA Finals MVP.

An emotional James fell to the floor when this one ended with a second win in six days on Golden State's imposing home floor, surrounded by his teammates. Only seconds earlier, he went down in pain with 10.6 seconds left after being fouled by Draymond Green while going for a dunk, then came back out to make the second of two free throws.

"We made history tonight," Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said. "Cleveland, Ohio, we're coming back, baby!"

Kyrie Irving scored 26 points to cap his brilliant finals, including a 3-pointer over MVP Stephen Curry with 53 seconds left.

Curry sat briefly on the bench to take in the scene after the Warriors made their last basket with 4:39 left.

Green had 32 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists, but the Warriors' record-setting season ended without the only prize this close-knit "Strength In Numbers" crew cared about from way back in the beginning -- through the record 24-0 start as Coach of the Year Steve Kerr was out, Curry's second consecutive MVP campaign, and the 73 regular-season wins to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' mark.

They might always be remembered as one of the best teams ever that couldn't close it out.

Alright sports buffs and basketball aficionados in particular...

Here we go again. A brand new season is underway.

First game of the season Cleveland is at Chicago and the POTUS is in the house.

The CAVS look locked and loaded with the off-season additions of Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson.

Kevin Love is back in the starting lineup. Kyrie Irving it appears won't be back till sometime in November.

If everybody stays healthy I expect the CAVS to back back in the NBA finals again this season and LeBron to make his 6th straight finals appearance.

I don't see much of a competition for them in the East really.

But in the West...oh boy. It's the Wild Wild West out there.

Who's gonna come out of there?

You got OKC back with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook without forgetting Serge Ibaka.

My San Antonio Spurs on paper look awesome. They signed LaMarcus Aldridge and got a steal in David West.

They have a solid bench.

Watch out for my Spurs because they are going to be in the mix again this season.

Then you got the Clippers whom I think they only got better by retaining DeAndre Jordan and signing Paul Pierce, Josh Smith, and Lance Stevenson. Man, they are loaded.

The Houston Rockets are going to have something to say as well. They signed another point guard in Ty Lawson who can put up points just like James Harden.

And then you have the reigning, defending NBA champions who a lot people are still not giving them their due credit. Their team is pretty much intact from last season.

Will they validate their championship this season?

We shall see.
Yeah, Nyani Ngabu I haven't forgotten your promise last season of CAVS to back back in the NBA finals again this season and LeBron to make his 6th straight finals appearance.

Hey my friend....how's it going?

I still think the CAVS are going to come out of the East for I don't see much of a competition for them in that Conference. But then again it's a long season and anything can happen which can potentially derail that inevitability.

Having said that, right now I'm fully focused on my NFL team, who by the way happen to be the reigning and defending Super Bowl champs.

I'll catch up with you when the NFL season ends.

Yeah, another season of NBA is here with us and right now I'm also focused on my NBA team who also happen to be the defending champs. Incidentally did you know that LeBron is no longer the NBA best player? Someone else has taken over and you should know who!

Agreed, it's still too early but then it is hard to deny the beauty, the flair and the finesse shown by one individual by the name Steph Curry! I invite you to watch him tonight at 10:30 pm ET on ESPN and TSN1 and I can bet you wont be disappointed...Go Steph Curry, go!

Steph Curry does it again and Clippers winning streak comes to an end, what a performance! Go Warriors go.

Nyani Ngabu, tonight I am watching one of the best performances by my home team, Warriors, against the Nuggets. It si half time now and the Warriors are leading by 30 pts. Try and tune so you can watch the remainder, you will love it.

I was watching and by half-time I concluded that it was a no contest.

And I must admit that six games into the season the defending champs are playing the part.

With the exception of the Clips game, they have basically blown each foe out of the water.

Question is, will they sustain what they got going on and go 72-0?

That we shall see as the young season progresses.

But for now they look awesome.
