Nationwide vehicle inspection kicks off

    Traffic police on Wednesday launched a countrywide vehicle inspection operation on the eve of the annual Road Safety Week.
    This was announced by traffic police national commander Mohamed Mpinga when briefing journalists about which police stations would be involved in the campaign.
    The press briefing was jointly organized by Airtel and Engen as sponsors of this year's Road Safety Week.
    Mpinga called on all vehicle owners and other motorists to ensure that their vehicles were inspected during the week.
    Mpinga named police stations and posts in Dar es Salaam where the inspections would take place as including Msimbazi, Karume, Buguruni and Sitakishari, while in Kinondoni district the stations are Oysterbay, Ubungo, Mbezi kwa Yusufi, Mwenge, Kawe and Tegeta.
    Stations in Temeke district are ChangÂ’ombe, Mbagala, Kigamboni and Tandika.
    In other regions vehicle owners would be required to take their vehicles to traffic stations and other appointed stations.
    He said each inspected vehicle would be issued with an inspection report and a sticker provided by the National Road Safety Council.
    Mpinga further said that sticker fees would vary, depending on types of vehicles, adding that private vehicles would be charged 3,000/-, commercila vehicles 5,000/- and motorbikes would be charged 1,000/-
    The traffic police chief further said that the climax of the Road Safety Week would be marked at the national level in Kagera region.

    Umefika wakati kukawa na utaratibu unaoeleweka kisheria badala ya utaratibu wa sasa unaofantika " kuzima moto". au kama sherehe fulani hivi. Takwimu na matokio ya ajali na vifo na uharibifu wa mali na vyombo vya usafiri vinatisha. Kwa nini tusifanye kama wanvyofanay wenzetu walionedelea juu ya maswala ya vyombo vya usafiri kama ifuatavyo:

    1. Kila mwenye gari kulazimika kukagua ukamilifu wa gari ( roadworthness) kila mwaka kwenye gereji zilizothibishwa na mkaguzi wa serikali. KIla gari lillilopita ukakuzi kuwekwa nembo/sticker inayoonyesha limepita ukaguzi tarehe/mwaka hadi mwaka ujao.

    2. Gereji/vituo vya ukaguzi pia vifanye ukaguzi unaohusu "emmission" ya gari.

    3. magari yanayofeli ukaguzi yapewe wiki mbili kurekebisha vinginevyo registration zao zifutwe na yasiruhuwe tena kurudi barabarani.

    UMUHIMU WA HATUA HIZI....
    1. Kuhakikisha kwamba kuna taratibu za kitaifa juu ya ukaguzi wa usalama wa magari/pikipiki na vyombo vingine vya usafiri.
    2. Ukaguzi huu pia huileta serikali mapato.
    3. Ukaguzi huu hutengeneza utaratibu wa kudumu wa kuondoa magari mabovu barabarani
    4. Utaratibu utaondoa udhaifu juu ya mfumo wa sasa wa kinachoitwa " Wiki ya Usalama barabarani. ambao umekaa kikampeni zaidi kuliko utaratibu wa kudumu.
    5. Magari yanayoingizwa nchini nayo yafanyiwe ukaguzi huu kabla ya kusajiliwa.
    6. Utakuwa ni mkakati wa kudumu kupunguza ajali barabarani.
    7. Utaratibu huu utainua viwango vya gereji zetu katika utendaji wao na kutuimia zana za kisasa.
