Wiki iliyopita nilitembelea mbuga ya Selous iliyoko huko Rufiji. Nilifikia katika Lodge ya Moja iliyopo hapo Selous, na miongoni mwa wageni tuliofikia katika Lodge hiyo kulikuwa na kina dada fulani wa Kizungu waliotokea nchini Afrika ya Kusini. Siku moja jioni wakati tunapata vinywaji kwenye Bar ya Lodge hiyo mmoja kati ya wale dada wa Kizungu alimuuliza Meneja wa Logde hiyo kwamba kwa nini hakuna wahudumu wa Kike yaani Ma-waitress. Yule Meneja akamjibu kwamba haajiri wahudumu wa kike kwa sababu ya mazingira hatarishi ya ilipo Lodge hiyo, kwamba wanawake wasingeweza kuishi katika mazingira yenye wanyama wakali. Mimi nikasema kwa utani, Labda Meneja anaogopa kuajiri wahudumu wa kike kwa kuhofia wanaume kupigana wakiwagombea.

Mwenzake na yule dada wa Kizungu akadakia na kusema, haiwezekani wanaume wapigane kwa sababu ya wanawake, bali wanawake ndio watakaopigana kwa sababu ya kugombea wanaume. Wote tukacheka. Lakini Mzungu mwingine akasema, hiyo ni kweli kwa sababu kutokana na uzoefu wake ni vigumu mahali wanapofanya kazi wanaume watupu kugombana tofauti na ilivyo kwa wanawake. Akitoa uzoefu wake dada huyo wa Kizungu alitoa mfano kwamba miaka mitano iliyopita alibahatika kufanya kazi katika kampuni mbili tofauti ambapo idadi ya wanawake ilikuwa ni kubwa, lakini alipokuja kufanya kazi katika kampuni aliyo nayo sasa ambapo wanaume wapo zaidi ya kumi na wao wanawake wakiwa ni wawili tu, mambo yamekuwa ni tofauti sana na ana-enjoy kazi yake tofauti na kule alipotoka ambapo idadi ya wanawake ilikuwa ni kubwa ukilinganisha na wanaume.

Aliendelea kusema kwamba, kule alipotoka mambo kama ya umbeya, usengenyaji, kuwekeana viburi, kuoneana wivu, kuchongeana kwa ma-bosi, na kila aina ya shari yalikua ni mambo ya kawaida kabisa katika kampuni hizo alizowahi kufanya kazi tofauti na hapo alipo sasa ambapo wanaume wamekuwa wakiwapa moyo na hata kutoa ushauri kwenye uongozi wapandishwe vyeo pale inapostahili na hata kuwapongeza pale wanapofanya vizuri.

Hebu wanawake wa hapa JF fungukeni na mseme ukweli kama maneno hayo ya dada wa Kizungu yana ukweli? Je ninyi mna maoni gani?

Nakubaliana na RR, nature ya kazi inahusika zaidi. Kuna kazi ambazo bila kuzishambulia kama nyuki haziendi, so ushirikiano ni automatic na muda wa majungu na udaku hakuna. Kupata umbea napo inahitaji nafasi mzee.

Japo kazi za field huwa sipendi kufanya na wanawake coz of kudeka na kukosa mpangilio, mfano mmepatana tuanze kazi saa moja yeye anachelewa kuamka na kukolezea wanja nusu saa, aaaggghhhrrr!Umenikumbusha kazi moja ambayo niliikosa kwa sababu ya jinsia yangu, I was very upset. Well, ingekuwa kazi ngumu na ningekuwa mwanamke alone kwenye tented camp yenye wanaume 50 hivi but I was up to the challenge. That was very unfair!

Kuna mengi tusiyoyajua katika eneo hilo, nitafunguka baadae, kuweka uzoefu wangu nilioupata huko Selous.

Hilo nilikuwa silijui, lakini kama nikiambiwa nitoe ushauri wangu, nisingekubali jambo hilo. Anyway hii ndiyo Tanzania kila kitu kinawezekana

Wapo wanawake ambao ni supportive pia AF, ila hapo kwenye kusaidiwa mie huwa nakerwa na wanawake wanaojilegeza wakifanya kazi na wanaume. Unatakiwa uonyeshe strengths zako, u just need support and not help. Uelekezwe na sio kusaidiwa. Wanawake tunakasirikiana kwa sababu ukija kufanya kazi na mie sitakusadia bali nitakuelekeza. Mwanaume anaweza akakufanyia kazi yoote ubaki una-file kucha kutwa!
