    DATABASE/ SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange
    The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) is a company limited by guarantee. It was established in 1996 to facilitate the Government's implementation of the ongoing economic reforms and enabling the private as well as the public sector to raise capital. The role of the DSE in the economy is the mobilization of resources and directing them to the productive sectors of the economy. DSE is also a depository of the Tanzania financial markets statistics.

    The DSE is looking for ambitious, highly motivated, creative, innovative and experienced young professional Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies:

    Education and Experience:

    Holder of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or its equivalent from a reputable higher learning institution in Tanzania or abroad with at least two years working experience in a reputable firm or organization.

    Personal Attributes:

    • Extensive knowledge of Oracle 10g Release II database.

    • Systems development skills especially in the following PUSOL and SOL

    • Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.

    • Working knowledge of computer server operations.

    • Basic knowledge of computer architecture and related communications eQuipments (such as Routers, Switches and Firewalls).

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    (i) Identify IT hardware and system software problems facing users of the various departments, and provide appropriate solutions to address them;

    (ii) Ensure at all times the optimum use of IT facilities at DSE, by way of system administration;

    (iii) Contribute in setting up/reviewing and developing the DSE MIS strategy and policies;

    (iv) Assist in developing appropriate documentation for purchasing of appropriate Hardware and System Software to meet DSE IT requirements;

    (v) Assist in designing and, where necessary, implement relevant internal training programmes related to IT hardware and system software;

    (vi) Support the various data users needs from the system;

    (vii) Diagnose & troubleshoot connectivity issues on the LAN & WAN.

    (viii) Oversee system back-up and recovery procedures;

    (ix) Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervising Manager.

    Education and Experience:

    • Holder of Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) from a recognized and reputable University;

    • Having 3 years working experience at a senior IEwel in large private or public institution;

    • Registered as an Advocate a.nd possession of a Masters Degree (LL.M) will be an added advantage.

    Personal Attributes:

    • Exposure in capital markets or stock exchange operations;

    • Possession of legal technical skills;

    • Possession of entrepreneurial skills;

    • Should have basic computer knowledge.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    (i) Carry out research on legal matters related to stock exchange operations;

    (ii) Draft legal memoranda and documents;

    (iii) Participate in evaluation of applications for listing;

    (iv) Interprets legal documents;

    (v) Assist in Preparing or reviewing proposed contracts, leases, loan agreements, memorandums and other legal documents in order to safeguard the interest of the Exchange;

    (vi) Assist in organizing and servicing meetings of the Council of the Exchange

    (vii) Assist in implementation of the Council's decisions;

    (viii) Assist in overseeing compliance to continuing listing obligations

    (ix) Assist in overseeing compliance by market intermediaries;

    (x) Assist in developing human resources systems for the Exchange;

    (xi) To perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Supervising Manager.

    General Qualifications

    In addition to the above qualifications, applicants for the three vacant posts should be persons with high level integrity, not be above 35 years of age and fluent in both spoken and written English.
