* Comment * * Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba completed advanced military training in South Africa. Several army officers have been promoted to higher ranks and some redeployed in a reshuffle announced by President Yoweri Museveni Commander in Chief. Maj.Gen. Fred Mugisha formerly in charge of AMISOM peacekeeping group is the new Joint Chief of Staff while Brigadier Angina has been promoted to Maj Gen and appointed Chief of Staff Land Forces. Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been promoted to Brigadier becoming the first commander of the Special Forces Command-SFC which has been expanded from a group. He is deputised by newly promoted Col. Sabiiti Muzeeyi. The SFC is now made two groups in charge of, protecting VIPs and another for combat operations. Muhoozi recently completed a prestigious military course in South Africa. The 22 weeks 'Executive National Security Programme' run at the South African National Defence College (SANDC) is usually undertaken by senior army officers from the rank of colonel and above. Some of the senior army officers in Uganda who have received similar training at the same college are Brigadier Paul Lokech, the commander of Uganda's contingent in Somalia, and Colonel Apollo Kasita Gowa, the commandant of Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka. This is advantageous because while here you study national security trends in Africa and seeing where Africa will be in the next few decades...."
