    Mtindi unaorodheshwa kuwa miongoni mwa vyakula bora kutokana na kuwa na virutubisho vingi vya aina mbalimbali ambavyo vina faida nyingi katika mwili wa binadamu.


    Vikitajwa kwa uchache virutubisho hivyo, imethibitika kuwa mtindi ni chanzo kizuri cha ‘Calcium’, ‘Phosphorus’, ‘Riboflavin (vitamin B2), ‘Iodine’, ‘vitamin B12’, ‘Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) ‘Zinc’, ‘Potassium’ na ‘Molybdenum’. Mbali ya virutubisho hivyo, ndani ya mtindi kuna ‘bakteria hai’ ambao ni muhimu kiafya katika mwili.

    HUREFUSHA MAISHA
    Utafiti unaonesha kuwa unywaji wa mtindi mara kwa mara, hasa katika kundi la wazee, uwezo wa mwili wa kupambana na magonjwa mbalimbali umeonesha kuongezeka na kufanya mfumo wa kinga ya mwili kuwa imara zaidi.


    Katika utafiti mmoja, walichaguliwa wazee 162 ambao walipewa utaratibu wa kunywa mtindi na maziwa zaidi ya mara 3 kwa wiki na kufuatiliwa maendeleo yao kwa muda wa miaka mitano. Baadaye utafiti huo ulionesha kuwa idadi ya vifo vya wazee hao ilipungua kwa asilimia 38 ukilinganisha na kundi la wazee wasiotumia au waliotumia mtindi kiasi kidogo sana.

    KINGA KWA KINA MAMA
    Aidha, mtindi umeonesha kuwa na uwezo mkubwa wa kutoa kinga dhidi ya maradhi ya kuambukiza ukeni (vaginal infections). Katika utafiti mmoja uliohusisha wanawake wenye magonjwa ya kuambukiza sehemu za siri, baada ya kutumia mtindi kiasi cha paketi moja kila siku kwa muda wa miezi sita, maambukizi waliyokuwanayo wanawake hao kabla yalitoweka.

    KINGA YA MWILI
    Utafiti uliofanywa kwa wanyama, wakiwemo panya na kuchapishwa kwenye jarida moja la masuala ya virutubisho nchini Marekani (Journal Of Nutrition), umeonesha kuwa unywaji wa mtindi kila siku, huamsha na kuupa nguvu mfumo wa kinga ya mwili kupambana na magonjwa kadhaa ya maambukizi, ikiwemo saratani ya utumbo.

    HUONDOA LEHEMU MBAYA MWILINI
    Katika hatua nyingine, mtindi umeonekana kuwa na uwezo wa kupunguza kiwango cha lehemu mbaya mwilini (LDL (bad) cholesterol) na wakati huo huo kupandisha kiwango cha lehemu nzuri mwilini (HDL (good) cholesterol). Kwa maana nyingine, ikiwa mtindi unaondoa lehemu mbaya, mtumiaji anajiepusha pia na hatari ya kupatwa na tatizo la shinikizo la damu.

    KUPUNGUZA UZITO
    Mbali ya faida hizo, mtindi pia umeonekana kupunguza mafuta (fat) mwilini na kwa maana hiyo una uwezo wa kupunguza unene unaotokana na mafuta mengi mwilini.

    MUHIMU KUZINGATIA
    Jambo muhimu la kuzingatia ni unywaji wa mtindi halisi uliotengenezwa kutokana na maziwa halisi ya ng’ombe, siyo mtindi uliotengenezwa kutokana na maziwa ya unga. Siri kubwa iliyomo kwenye mtindi ni ule uchachu unaotokana na ‘bakteria hai’ wanaopatikana baada ya maziwa kuganda na kuchachuka.
