Fire destroys Mombasa Airport VIP Lounge

Fire broke out at the Moi International Airport, Mombasa early Sunday morning and burnt down the VIP Lounge. The recently renovated lounge was destroyed in the fire that started at around 10.00 am. No one was injured in the incident.
Fire fighters from the Airport Fire Service managed to put out the fire with assistance from Mombasa Municipal Council Fire Brigade.
The airport Operations Manager, Ms Jedidah Masibo said they suspected an electric fault at one of the air conditioners in the lounge caused the fire.
No one was injured during the incidentthat led to the area being cordoned off by airport security personnel. The incident did not interfere with operations at the airport as planes landed and took off as scheduled.
The lounge was recently renovated and upgraded into a first class facility.
