Nokia Dumps Symbian Services Unit #storyTools ul li{ visiblity:visible; } #storyTools ul li#stLinkedIn.active{ display:none; }

Is this the beginning of the end for Symbian? On March 17 2011, Nokia announced it will sell its Symbian professional services unit to Accenture. The division provides engineering consulting and product development services to mobile phone manufacturers, chip makers and wireless service providers that develop products based on Symbian software for mobile phones. This software is the most widely used in smartphones today, but it’s been fast losing ground to rivals such as Android.
The sale is yet another indication that “Nokia keeps distancing itself from Symbian, divesting of nearly anything that is directly related,” Jack Gold, principal at J. Gold Associates, wrote in this morning’s note. “This reinforces our earlier position that Symbian is no longer strategic to Nokia’s success.” Considering that Nokia is the world’s No. 1 cell phone maker, that’s bad news for Symbian.
Even though Symbian has been restructuring and making an effort to attract developers in order to stabilize its market share and regain its momentum, that may not be possible now as even its biggest supporter, Nokia, moves on to greener pastures. “I’d expect Nokia to offer ‘other’ [software, such as Android], within the year,” Gold writes. As it makes a push into Mobile Internet Devices, or tablets, Nokia will use alternative software rather than Symbian for those gadgets as well, he says.
Symbian will have “a tactical rather than a strategic potion in Nokia’s future,” Gold writes. And that likely means that Symbian will continue to see its market share melting despite all the changes and innovations it makes to the software.
That said, this is a smart move for Accenture, which likely picked up the unit on the cheap (the amount of the deal has not been disclosed). As handset makers and carriers launch their app stores and keep on innovating on handset software, they will want to outsource more of that work to reduce costs. That’s where Accenture will come in.
The company, which already has expertise in Windows Mobile and Symbian software, plans to leverage the staffers and know-hows it acquires from Nokia to expand into all kinds of mobile software, including Android. “We have a huge ambition in this space, and this is a strategic acquisition,” says Jean-Laurent Poitou, managing director of Accenture’s Electronics & High-Tech industry group.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 (windows mobile 6.5) na Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (Android v1.5) in terms of performance Android is better,,lakini IOS has the best performance of them all...:mod::mod::mod:

Nafikiri Android itachukuwa chat,

kwanza kwa sababu kuna mkono wa GOOGLE, pili ni Open Source, maana yake inaongeza inter-operability, na Apps nyingi ni rahisi kudevelop kwa Android..

USER INTERFACE

For simplicity, elegance and beautiful design, iOS has no peer. Android, while not badly designed, remains a bit rough around the edges. And Windows Phone 7 is designed to show information at a glance and isn't app-centric, so if you're the kind of person who isn't enamored with apps and just wants to get information fast, it's worth a look.

APPS and OPENNESS

If you want to have access to a wide variety of apps, you'll want iOS or Android. There are so many apps for each of those platforms that you'll be able to find many to do what you want, and I've found no discernible difference in the quality of apps written for iOS and Android. And if openness is what you're after, Android beats both iOS and Windows Phone 7.

FEATURES AND DATA INTEGRATION

There is no winner here -- it all depends on what operating system you like and what applications you use. Google fans will clearly want an Android phone because it offers the best integration with Google's services. Those who live and die by Microsoft will instead prefer Windows Phone 7, although they may be put off by the lack of copy and paste . As for iOS, there's no surprise here -- Mac fans will want it.

CUSTOMIZATION

Neither iOS nor Windows Phone 7 is the phone operating system for dedicated tweakers. When it comes to customization, Android is the clear winner.

Android ziko so cheap inatisha unaweza kupata smartphone kwa bei ndogo sana yenye uwezo wa kufanya kila kitu, ila quality nayo iko all over the place.

Windows Phone naamini watakamata some market share, OS yao wameipanga vizuri sana, wamefikiria ecosystem nzima Android kama wameunga unga tu. Plus zitakapotoka Windows Phone za Nokia zitakawakamata wengi.

iPhone itaendelea kuwa iPhone for a long time. Consumers hawajui wala kujali maana ya Open (na nisingeiita Android Open anyway) na developers wa Apps wataenda kwenye hela, ambapo ni iPhone, Android kuuza App vigumu sana.

Symbian ndo bye bye.

RIM (Blackberry) wako popular bado ila kuna hatari ya kuachwa nyuma.

Bada (Samsung) nayo ya kuiangalia.

In short nobody knows.

SAwa ila i love Symbiam my love to it will never die....u know y

easy to hack

Android ni nzuri ila Huwezi hack kirahisi

Pia kuna Os ya Ubuntu for mobile, may b this will interest me.
