Kenyan man arrested for possession of drug tablets ​

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino Tuesday announced Eric K. Warugongo, 35, of Clark was arrested for possession of 518 oxycodone tablets​

Detectives received a tip that Warugongo, a native of Kenya, was distributing narcotics at the Pathmark on Lyons Avenue in Irvington. They seized a 1994 Cadillac and discovered the narcotics.

An additional 225 tablets, $2,600 in cash and multiple identification documents were discovered when officers subsequently searched Warugongo's home on Lexington Blvd. in Clark.

Warugongo is being held on $150,000 bail at the Essex County Correctional Facility.

Acting Prosecutor Laurino commended Detectives Joseph DiLauri and Robert O'Neal who handled the investigation.
