WIZARA ya Nishati na Madini, imeridhia ujengwaji wa mgodi mwingine mkubwa wa uchimbaji dhahabu katika Wilaya ya Geita, mkoani Mwanza.
Hatua ya serikali kuridhia ujenzi huo wa mgodi utakaoendeshwa kwa ubia baina ya mwekezaji, wananchi na serikali kwa ujumla, imelenga kukamilisha ahadi zake mbalimbali za kuwanufaisha wananchi wanaoishi kwenye maeneo yenye rasilimali hizo.
Kulingana na hali hiyo, wizara hiyo ya Nishati na Madini, imesema itatenga eneo maalumu kwa ajili ya wachimbaji wadogo kwenye machimbo hayo ya Mugusu ambayo mwaka 2009 serikali iliyafunga, baada kutitia na kudaiwa kuua watu saba kwa kufukiwa na kifusi cha udongo.
Kamishna wa Madini nchini, Dk. Peter Kafumu, alisema hayo juzi wilayani Geita kwenye mkutano wa hadhara, wilayani hapa, mkutano ambao ulihudhuriwa na viongozi mbalimbali wa serikali, akiwemo mbunge wa Geita, Donald Maxi.
Alisema mradi huo wa mgodi utamhusisha mwekezaji wa kampuni ya Shanta Mining Co. Ltd kwa kumiliki asilimia 50 ya mradi huo, huku serikali ya kijiji cha Mugusu ikimiliki asilimia 40 na serikali kupitia STAMICO itakuwa na asilimia 10 katika mradi huo.
“Mipango iliyopo sasa ni kujenga mgodi mkubwa katika machimbo ya Mugusu hapa Geita. Huu mgodi utaendeshwa kwa ubia kati ya serikali, mwekezaji na wananchi wenyewe...huu ni mradi wa kipekee,” alisema kamishna huyo.
Alisema kabla ya mwezi ujao itaundwa kamati maalumu ya utekelezaji ambayo itasimamia mchakato na kuratibu utekelezaji wa mradi huo na kwamba kamati hiyo itawashirikisha wananchi na wadau mbalimbali akiwemo mwekezaji mwenyewe, STAMICO na wanakijiji.

Walton Imrie (58)
Executive Chairman
Mr Imrie is a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees. He started his career in stockbroking in South Africa in the early 1970s, then took up employment with Shaw & Co in London. Mr Imrie started an independent financial consultancy business which eventually became the Swiss based asset management company, Kestrel SA. He has been involved with gold mining and exploration through a number of vehicles including Simmer and Jack Mines Limited and Southern Prospecting (Pty) Limited. The latter company listed Randex and Potchefstroom Gold Areas in the 1980s in South Africa. Mr Imrie was a board member of Francistown Mining Limited. Its principal asset is the Toronto and Sydney listed Lionore Mining Limited. He is currently a director and shareholder of Pan African Mining (Pty) Ltd, a Zimbabwean gold producer.
Walter Vorwerk (58)

Mr Vorwerk has extensive executive and operational experience within the Southern African mining industry and has held directorships at many industry related companies including Vaal Reefs Mining and Exploration Co. Limited (the precursor to AngloGold Limited), Western Deep Levels Limited, Driefontein Consolidated Limited and Rand Refinery Limited. Mr Vorwerk was Manager of Finance at AngloGold from 1995 to 2002, where he oversaw and was involved in corporate finance, merger, acquisition and disposal activities. He was the Finance Director of Aquarius Platinum Limited from 2002 to 2003. He is involved in a corporate finance practice in South Africa called Interstices (Pty) Limited.
David Scott (54)
Executive Director
Mr Scott brings a wealth of experience in the mining sector, having spent his whole career working in the industry. David is a qualified geologist and a member of the Geological Society of South Africa, having earned a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Masters of Science (Geology) from the Stellenbosch University. In the past five years David has worked as an independent geologist focused on exploration project management in Tanzania and Madagascar and was the Technical Services Manager at the Bulyanhulu Mine of Barrick Gold in Tanzania.
Paul David Heber (47)

Paul Heber is an investment manager and stockbroker with more than 20 years experience in global stock markets, following 3 years in the oil industry. Formerly with SGHambros, Nat West and WI Carr, he is now with bespoke boutique Savoy Investment Management, regulated by both the FSA in London and the FSB in Johannesburg. He has a broad pan-African clientele alongside his domestic UK, European and Bermudian business.
Paul David Heber is currently a director of LonZim PLC and Savoy Investment Management Limited. He has no previous directorships or partnerships within the past 5 years.

Mr Patel is the chairman of the Audit and Remuneration Committees. He attended schools and colleges in Kenya, India and the United Kingdom. Mr Patel has worked extensively in trading organisations in the UK and since 1986 has traded agrocommodities internationally. He is a senior director of Exporting Trading (Pty) Ltd and is Managing Director of the Sea Cliff and White Sands Hotels in Dar es Salaam. Mr Patel is also a director of Cielmac Ltd, a property company in Tanzania.
Gareth Taylor (52)
Executive director, NHD Metalliferous Mining (Wits Technikon) GradDipEng (Wits)
Mr Taylor’s portfolio will include the management of feasibility studies, imminent mining operations, and stakeholder relations and corporate affairs in Tanzania. Mr Taylor has extensive experience experience in deep level, intermediate, shallow underground and open cast mining in a number of African countries including Mali, Namibia, South Africa and Tanzania. For 28 years he was employed by AngloGold Ashanti where he was head of mining and planning for the company’s East and West África region and also managing director of the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania. More recently Mr Taylor joined Barrick Gold, where he was executive general manager for Barrick Gold Tanzania and vice president for Barrick Gold Africa, responsible for all Barrick's operational interests in Africa.
