Masoud Kipanya is wrong about SUA

kuna soma moja linalohusu informatics au mathematics kwenye mtaala kwahiyo kufanya kazi Bank is OK
bwa ha ha ha walahi kazi ipo......na wale wa BBA waliosoma kijisomo kimoja cha LAW nao wanaruhusiwa wawe mawakili etal?

Masoud kipanya, recently posted a cartoon, depicting a SUA graduate working in bank with a line saying "Hii ndio Bongo, nimemaliza chuo kikuu cha kilimo cha sokoine lakini niko kaunta benki", a statement of the sort. Masoud, like many Tanzanians, are ignorant of the curriculum, even degree programs offered at SUA. The original BSc Agriculture of SUA offered in 1980s, had specialisations and final year students used to specialise in different fields including Agricultural Economics. People like Prof. Anna Tibaijuka graduated from SUA with BSc Agriculture with specialisation in economics and today she is leading UNHABITAT. Since the 1990s SUA has been a dgree of MSc. in Agricultural Economics. Recently, SUA started degree programs in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness and an MBA with biase to agriculture. My dear Masoud agriculture is a sector, not farming. The degree of agriculture offered by SUA considers all components of agriculture, from engineering, economics, communication, processing etc.
Being a graduate of SUA does not mean that you are committed to a farm or the likes. Even more, people have natural talents. Masoud never attended a university offering a degree in "cartoonology", but he is doing fine with his toons. Likewise, Tracy chapman has a degree in Agriculture but chose the music career. One of the best music producers in Tanzania Hermes B, is graduate of SUA. Do you remember Prof Madundo Mtambo, a man who shocked Simba SC in the 1980s? A SUA graduate. Graduates of SUA have prospered in different fields (not just banking) including politics where you have people like Prof. Msolla, David Mathayo, Hawa Ghasia, Jumanne Maghembe etc.
The secret is, financial institutions that employ student from SUA are impressed by their perfomances, and thats not just CRDB. PRIDE Tanzania is proud os SUA graduates, so is FINCA and NMB. Afterall, all those people employed in Tanzanian banks are not graduates of BCom, or finance, or Banking. Most of them have degrees and they undergo inhouse training. The best ones prosper, like the SUA graduate you see behind the counter. Be warned that SUA graduates are doing fine in agriculture itself. A good example is Shambani graduates, a company formed and owned by young SUA graduates. I dont believe that Masoud's father-in-law has a degree in agriculture? I gues he own farmms in Mbeya...au hii ndio Bongo?

Masoud kipanya

Masoud KIPANYA kafikisha ujumbe kiasi umeumia hadi umekuja kujiunga JF.SIKU ZOTE UKWELI UNAUMA.

Hajakosea

It is very ignorant of whoever that is to think that you have to have a degree in Accounts to be an Accountant or a degree in Banking to work in a Bank. What you don't know or even realise is a degree provide most graduates with a knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to work in different areas within any organisation. I mean you can work in just about any area in an organisation if you are right minded and have the enthusiasm to learn new skills. I graduated in Information Systems but I work as HR Adviser?? What the job was looking for was someone who is willing to take challenges, work on their own initiatives and have excellent interpersonal skills, and these are the things gotten me a job. Ehe come on Tanzanian lets us think BIG for once why look at things through the box? Spread your wings!!!!!!!!!!

Masoud is right. SUA graduate are trained to work in Agriculture or agriculture related issues, if not science and not to become cashier/tellers in banks. There is nothing like B.Sc./BA. Banking at SUA. This applies to many other Universities where many graduate desparate for jobs end up in really wrong and low quality carriers as bank tellers. I don't imagine a person toiling the hard way to graduation with B.Sc. Agribusiness or whatsoever from SUA,,,, ending up counting other people's money instead of his/hers!?? But the biggest shock is that the graduates themselves are happy to be taken for a ride for such low profiled jobs which fit most form 4 or certificate holders!

Probably, we are building up a pile of useless graduates!

So who should count other peoples' money? A graduate of BCom?
Banking is not about counting other peoples money ... there is more to banking

Ndugu zangu, let's look at the qualification for obtaining MBA? Any first or second class degree whether Geologyl or eneginnerine or science! And an MBA graduates can work anywhere... Banking institution is not all about money but also how to make money! And money can be made on agriculture, fishing, mining etc

BCom inasaidia kufanya financial auditing, lakini kuna environmental auditing, mining auditing etc ambazo zinahitaji watalaam zaidi! Ndio maana nasema BANK is not only about counting money, its how to manage money! And money management involves all discplines!
Casheir and counters are part of the banking system!

uuuuuuuuuuuuwiiiiiiiiiiiiiii mpe mpe......tuko pamoja

Masoud alikuwa na maana yake hata hivyo nenda voda kitengo cha customer care wapo kibao wanapokea simu na wengine ma meneja its all wastage of resources mtu kasomea mambo ya udongo mwingine nutrition mwingine mambo ya wanyamapori anapokea simu pale wakati huko mashambani tunaona hakuna kinachoendelea

Je Masoud alisema specifically wanafanya kazi ya bank teller? Alitaja kazi specific? katuni yenyewe iko wapi?

I am against you all.
Mlambiti alinifundisha but it is not enough kujiita mimi mwanauchumi kwa kuwa nimesoma kozi moja ya economics!!! we need proffesionals katika kila field...Mbona hatujaona madaktari toka muhimbili wamekuwa ma loan officer bank?? then between us and you nani mwenye mtazamo hasi..Think!!!

then if what i have underlined is true ,you are not a proffesional rather an opportunist..a well blended scholar cannot praise him/herself that iam an IT person and i work as a HR advisor,by the way you dont know what you are advising to that company..I wish i ningejua huyo aliyekuajiri otherwise kama ni kampuni ya mzee wako then you deserve to be a HR advisor

You are wrong, Shmabani graduates is a limited company, they produce milk related products sold in Morogoro and many other regions. Its not an NGO that could syphone money from the donors!!! they take loans, not grants
i can categorically tell you i accessed one of their proposed they applied for a grant with DFID where i work as a technical Advisor and i find them not impressing and even meets the minimum requirements to qualify for the grant...so i know what iam saying ..it is not blal blal...the fact is SUA graduates are not ready to work in their areas of specializations.by the way Iam a graduate and iam working in my area of specialization...Tena nilisoma ile SUA ya zamani si hii yenu ya siku hizi ya semester iliyokuwa diluted..

Maana kuna jamaa angu katoka huko ni bwana mifugo ananiambia yupo IT bank nilimwambia tema mate juu.
