Masoud Kipanya is wrong about SUA

Masoud kipanya, recently posted a cartoon, depicting a SUA graduate working in bank with a line saying "Hii ndio Bongo, nimemaliza chuo kikuu cha kilimo cha sokoine lakini niko kaunta benki", a statement of the sort. Masoud, like many Tanzanians, are ignorant of the curriculum, even degree programs offered at SUA. The original BSc Agriculture of SUA offered in 1980s, had specializations and final year students used to specialize in different fields including Agricultural Economics. People like Prof. Anna Tibaijuka graduated from SUA with BSc Agriculture with specialization in economics and today she is leading UNHABITAT. Since the 1990s SUA has been a degree of MSc. in Agricultural Economics. Recently, SUA started degree programs in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness and an MBA with biase to agriculture. My dear Masoud agriculture is a sector, not farming. The degree of agriculture offered by SUA considers all components of agriculture, from engineering, economics, communication, processing etc.

Being a graduate of SUA does not mean that you are committed to a farm or the likes. Even more, people have natural talents. Masoud never attended a university offering a degree in "cartoonology", but he is doing fine with his toons. Likewise, Tracy chapman has a degree in Agriculture but chose the music career. One of the best music producers in Tanzania Hermes B, is graduate of SUA. Do you remember Prof Madundo Mtambo, a man who shocked Simba SC in the 1980s? A SUA graduate. Graduates of SUA have prospered in different fields (not just banking) including politics where you have people like Prof. Msolla, David Mathayo, Hawa Ghasia, Jumanne Maghembe etc.

The secret is, financial institutions that employ student from SUA are impressed by their perfomances, and thats not just CRDB. PRIDE Tanzania is proud os SUA graduates, so is FINCA and NMB. Afterall, all those people employed in Tanzanian banks are not graduates of BCom, or finance, or Banking. Most of them have degrees and they undergo inhouse training. The best ones prosper, like the SUA graduate you see behind the counter. Be warned that SUA graduates are doing fine in agriculture itself. A good example is Shambani graduates, a company formed and owned by young SUA graduates. I dont believe that Masoud's father-in-law has a degree in agriculture? I gues he own farmms in Mbeya...au hii ndio Bongo?

Halafu............ Kufanya kazi usiyo na vyeti nayo utaishia kukosa experience kwenye vyeti ulivyo navyo

the first thing comes in mind mtu ukisikia kasoma Sua ni Agriculture.. you know and i that, concept ya kipanya ni Professionalism usilete ligi tu. ndo maana watu watu wanamaliza elimu hii still wanafanya kazi opposite na walichosomea. hii ni zaid ya hata 40% nenda maofisin hasa serikalini uone kazi wanazofanya na elimu yao.... Tanzania to increase efficiency has to respect Professionalism period.
