Kenya Airways announced a record net loss of Sh26.2 billion in the year ending March, widening the Sh25.7 billion net loss it posted the year before.

KQ, as the airline is popularly known by its international code, suffered from a Sh9.7 billion foreign exchange loss and an acceleration of other costs, including interest expenses.

Its revenue increased to Sh116.1 billion from Sh110.1 billion in the same period, trailing the increase in costs. The loss also saw the national carrier set a new record in wiping out shareholders’ equity, with the company’s net worth now at a negative Sh35.6 billion from the previous negative Sh5.9 billion.

MY TAKE
IMHO this is the right time for JPM to invest in ATCL as KQ is struggling big time so can not fend off ATCL entrance in the market that much!

KQ will turn around. Just a little more time and all will be fine. Meanwhile your country needs to invest in a national airline. It is the right thing to do.

And mind u next year by this time ATCL will be having 5 planes, 2+3 brand new operating in the EA sky! maumivu zaidi!
Hehe, last year ulikua ukiongea kuhusu Fastjet...hii ata sisemi zaidi.
Anyway, new doesnt automatically translate to profitable.
Dont forget ATCL made losses until they couldnt announce their financial report anymore. May be you should try explaining how being a new player in market guarantees success coz thats what you said about Fastjet last year and it looks like the hype is dead.

Hasa manegement ya kitanzania inaweza kuwasaidia.
Management ya what eti??..
South africans have been managing ur national carrier ever since i can rem.
They have made losses left, right and center until u couldnt take it no more.
And plus one of your bombadier is grounded u cant even afford to buy it spare parts.
My advice take a chill pill.

Hasa manegement ya kitanzania inaweza kuwasaidia.
Yeah.
Kuna tatizo.

Nilipokuwa kijana mdogo nilikuwa nawaza hivi tu.
