I say Nooo Mr. President, let the sit in their offices, tell them to join Tanzanet, Zanzinet, Wanabidii, Jamiiforums and all other sort of internet groups of Wagagagigikoko (hey even if Ze Utamu was still active, you could have reached the mass of those who are sexually deprived!).

Why add miles to their VX's ?

If they can not figure this out from their own constituencies or just what they see with their eyes in Dar and Dodoma, do you expect touring the country will be a solution?

You excellence, every other week or so you travel by road to your home near Chalinze, you are yet to prioritize the expansion of our road way, the main road to Dar! How do you expect tha MerLocks can get it done or if he drives to Wami he will see the problem? or even with a dynamic team partnering with Mwakyembe they will get us some plushy roads with no congestion?

At the same time when you travel you see the darkness hovering over Kibaha to Ubungo where you find a traffic police with his reflector coat and flash light guiding the cars, doesn't that strike you as a problem that should have been fixed on your second year as president and not stretch itself 6 years later? Have you summoned Ngeleja and your stooge at Tanesco to get this fixed? Oopss I totally forgot, this was your ministry for Six years, and the best you gave us was IPTL!

What about water, education, afyea, sanitary, food shortages, rising cost of food and petroleum products or even when you read the papers every morning and see problems from left to right, hasn't that push you to call your participants of Ulezi(sic) to action by fixing issues written not only by Mwanahalisi or Tanzania Daima, but Habari Leo, Daily News and your own party newspaper Uhuru?

You have wasted money several times even the year you sent your ministers to "sell" the budget and Hali Halisi, it is time either you demand to see action and improvements or rid those who can not get it done!

Touring the country is an expense to your budget right now and you do not have money to send people to study tour of why Tanzania is poor or why in the hell your re-election percentage went down 20 percent!

Get busy, stop pleading and begging people to fix the problems. Anza wewe by fixing those who can not get things done.

The recent directive by the President to his ministers, to visit rural areas, seems retrogressive in the wake of the government battling without success to reduce unnecessary expenditure. Actually, unnecessary spending has been a thorn in the flesh in this country for a long time, forcing Prime Minister Pinda to promise government commitment in reducing it.

I am of the view that the ministers' long safaris to rural areas, where some of them will use planes while their drivers follow with their cars by road will gobble a lot of taxpayer's money. Though it might be true that they meet the people and get the root causes of the problems but, experience has taught us that it will be a mere waste of money as nothing concrete will come out of those trips.

These officials cannot make the necessary changes in this city where they are based as problem continues to haunt wananchi, how then will they make the changes in rural areas by mere visiting. The President should dismiss all those who are incompetent and on the other hand should stop throwing spanners in some ministers' work.

The ministers should prove that they are hard working first before we can trust them with such trips. Only hard working ministers should be allowed to embark on such trips as we will be assured that something will come out of it. Otherwise with the current situation and the crop of ministers we have, then I have no doubt that these trips will be a mere wastage of taxpayer's money. In other words it will become one of the unnecessary expenditures.

Unnecessary expenditure has been our enemy number one. Thanks to Sikika and Policy Forum who recently published a policy brief which indicates that unnecessary expenditure for travel expenses (within and outside the country) is the third largest amount of unnecessary expenditure in Tanzania. actually in FY 2008/9, the Tanzania government spent Tsh 155 billion which is a reduction of 20%.
