Huwa wana flat heads.
Akiwa na kisogo or a round head then ni wa Mtanganyika :)

A question of a carpetbagger has almost wiped out Dr. Batilda’s chances of snapping the Arusha Municipal constituency. Eligible voters are questioning her residential status following being married to a Zanzibari DPP: Voters oppugn whether she is an Arusha or an Ungujan? Though she admits that she is married to a Zanzibari but she vows her Arusha roots remain irreproachable and she quips that since her husband has added a second wife, she will divorce him, if she sails through and bags this populous constituency. Whether it was a campaign ploy to garner votes, time will tell how successful she was in swaying public opinion with this banter.

To her detractors, they would have none of that as they circulate information belittling her: She is a cold calculating material girl who will do anything to secure her parochial delusions.

One woman, I accosted to, gloated that Dr. Batilda will lose this election big time because women of Arusha will not permit her to jettison her marriage for a political career. She pleaded that “Marriage is a lifetime commitment not to be taken lightly as Dr. Batilda was trying to do.” She also blurted that “political career is temporary venture which should not be parlayed to demean an institution of marriage.” Others feel that being in an Islamic marriage Dr. Batilda ought to have contemplated that a polygynous marriage and her concomitant cry for rescue were totally misplaced. Some of those who will not vote for her consider themselves doing her a huge favour of shielding her marriage from being irreparably broken by her insatiable political ambitions!

But those who support Dr. Batilda candidacy review the same election dilemmas and reach a conclusion that she loves her constituency so much that she is willing to abandon a blossoming marriage in order to re-dedicate herself to her people!

Another issue that has morphed to be a hot button campaign issue is her employment excursion with KKKT. After successfully completing her undergraduate studies at University of Dar-Es-Salaam in 1988, Dr. Batilda joined KKKT where after a short stint she was privileged to secure a missionary scholarship to pursue further studies leading to a doctorate. After obtaining her doctorate, she returned to KKKT but left in a huff for a greener pasture to an international NGO in Dar. Right there, her critics believe that her mien sums up a composure of someone who uses and dumps others to sate her myopic escapades! This damaging brickbat of a ruthless, calculating materialistic girl appears to have stubbornly stuck with her despite her former boss at KKKT Bishop Laizer stepping forward to her defense. According to Bishop Laizer, KKKT parted ways with Dr. Batilda on mutual consent following her new flamboyant qualifications jostling for a significant much higher pay than the Diocese could afford. But even there, a whiff of opportunism is conspicuously undisguised: Having been trained by KKKT, at least she could have worked for the Arusha Diocese for five years to repay their compassion rather than assailing corporate obligations in order to advance a burning personal ambition.

In one of her “meet the voters” familiarization tours, one male voter wanted to know whether Arusha men were not “man enough” for her foisting her to hurtle all the way to Unguja to pick someone who was materially well off, say to speak. Her riposte has left many unanswered questions, though. Dr. Batilda retorted that she had always fancied for an Arusha “hunk of a man” but after decades of patiently stalling for that ‘marital calling’ she came to a bitter realization no one here in Arusha seemed interested in her. Whether that is a campaign ploy or a true revelation of her predicament only voters can decide.

As days tick off to D-Day, time has been unkind to Dr. Batilda and if she loses this election it will be her first time to test political defeat. For someone who has been junketing in the House for a decade with nothing to show off it may be “poetic justice” to Arusha residents reminding all leaders that public service demands diligently serving the people but not succumbing to “wanamtandao” machinations who are positioning themselves to triumph CCM succession politics of 2015.

Many fancy an election loss to Dr. Batilda will be too devastating to her locking her permanently out of ministerial sinecures in the cabinet….Well, who said politics is not a dirt game?
