KIA wapo juu kwa suala la kodi na huduma mbofu mbofuuuu itakuwa poa Kenya wakitengeneza manake itakuwa salama yetu watu wa karibu na ampakani manake Tanzania si hawahitaji hizo hela na hawajui umuhimu ya uwanja wa kimataifa.JK uko bize na dowans na kufungua shule za primary sasa uwanja na yeye wapi na wapi???? soon watatuibia na mlima kilimanjaro kabisa.

Lakini kwa habari nilizosoma mimi ni kwamba KIA iko kwenye hatua za mwisho kuchukuliwa na Mamlaka ya serikali ya Uendeshaji viwanja-Tanzania Airports Authority, baada ya kufanikiwa ku'regain hisa zote 100%.
Reclamation hii inakuja baada ya mwekezaji binafsi aliyekuwa akiushikilia na kuuendesha uwanja huu-Kilimanjaro Airport Development Company [KADCO]kuchemsha vibaya na kuonekana wamekiuka masharti ya mkataba wa Uwekezaji.
Mategemeo yangu ni kwamba TAA wakishaumiliki uwanja huu watauinua na kuurudishia hali yake ya mwanzo, na hivyo utaweza kushindana kirahisi na huo wa Taveta.

PJ, hiyo redemption ya shares zote na ukiukwaji wa masharti natumaini utafanyika vizuri. Hata kama ni ushauri wa Rex basi uangaliwe isije ikawa mambo ya fidia tena baadae.

Katika toleo la jana la gazeti hili, tulichapisha habari kuwa Uwanja wa Ndege wa Kimataifa wa Kilimanjaro (Kia) upo hatarini kufa kibiashara kutokana na nchi ya Kenya kujenga uwanja mkubwa wa ndege wa kimataifa eneo la Holili-Taveta lililo mpakani mwa Tanzania na Kenya.

Habari hiyo ilimkariri Balozi wa Kenya nchini, Mutinda Mutiso akisema kuwa uwanja huo unaojengwa sambamba na ujenzi wa bandari ya nchi kavu, unatarajiwa kugharimu Sh10 bilioni za Kenya, sawa na Sh180 bilioni za Tanzania. Katika uchunguzi wake, gazeti hili limebaini kuwa hali ilivyo sasa, watalii na wageni wengi wanaokuja nchini wanapitia katika Uwanja wa Kimataifa wa Jomo Kenyata na kutumia magari madogo kuja hapa nchini wakikwepa gharama kubwa za uwanja wa Kia.

Kuna hofu kuwa kukamilika kwa ujenzi wa uwanja huo mpya na wa kisasa wa Holili-Taveta ulio kilomita mbili tu upande wa Kenya kutoka mpaka mwa Tanzania, kutasababisha watalii wanaokuja nchini kutumia uwanja huo kutokana na ukaribu. Wadau mbalimbali wa utalii na biashara katika mikoa ya Kanda ya Kaskazini ambayo ni kitovu cha utalii, wametahadharisha Serikali kuwa kukamilika kwa uwanja huo ndio utakuwa kifo cha uwanja wa Kia.

Gazeti hili limegundua kuwa wageni wengi wanaukimbia uwanja wa Kia kutokana na gharama zake na katika sekta nyingine kuwa kubwa, tofauti na Kenya yenye huduma za gharama nafuu, hivyo mgeni anaona bora ashukie Nairobi ili akodi gari na kuja Tanzania kwa gharama ndogo pia.
Kenya imeamua kuipiku Tanzania kutokana na umakini mdogo wa viongozi wa Tanzania katika biashara na inatazamia kuwa wageni wote waliokuwa wanashukia Nairobi sasa watashukia Holili, kwani watatumia dakika 20 kufika Moshi mjini na kuchukua dakika 50 kwenda Arusha, badala ya kutumia saa tano kutoka Nairobi kwa barabara.

Kama hali itakuwa hivyo, Watanzania tujitayarishe kufanya msiba wa kitaifa, kwani uwanja wa Holili-Taveta moja kwa moja utaiua Kia. Wakati tunajiandaa kwa maombolezo, Watanzania tusimtafute mchawi, kwani mchawi ni sisi wenyewe ambao tumeyaacha matatizo ya Kia kuwachefua na kuwafukuza watalii na wageni wengine.

Ikumbukwe kuwa, katikati ya Oktoba mwaka jana Serikali iliwashutumu wafanyakazi na viongozi wa Kia kwa kuhujumu mapato ya uwanja huo na kusababisha hasara kubwa.
Waziri wa masuala ya Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki wakati huo, Deodoras Kamala aliwaeleza wafanyakazi hao kuwa tayari Serikali ilikuwa inafahamu njia wanazotumia kufuja mapato kwa kutotoa stakabadhi za malipo kwa wasafiri walipotaka viza au kupitisha mizigo. Alisema kulikuwapo malalamiko ya muda mrefu kuhusu urasimu na huduma mbovu katika uwanja huo zilizosababisha wasafiri wengi kuukimbia uwanja huo na kutumia viwanja vingine nje ya nchi.

Alisema Serikali ilikuwa imegundua kuwa baadhi ya mambo waliyokuwa wanafanyiwa wasafiri hao, ikiwamo kuwatoza faini ya dola 50 za Marekani abiria waliokuwa hawana chanjo ya Homa ya Manjano (Yellow Fever), yalikuwa yanawakwaza abiria na mashirika ya ndege kwa kiasi kikubwa, hasa kwa kuzingatia ukweli kuwa viwanja vingine havina masharti hayo.
Alisema kuwa dunia ya leo yenye ushindani, masuala kama ya chanjo ya homa hiyo katika viwanja vya ndege na mipaka yetu lazima yaangaliwe kwa kutumia busara na uzalendo zaidi kuliko taratibu zilizowekwa kama tahadhari tu, ili wageni waone umuhimu wa kurudi Tanzania.

Baada ya angalizo hilo la kiongozi huyo, watawala wetu waliendelea kupiga siasa zisizo na tija pasipo kuchukua hatua, na ndipo viongozi wa Kenya walipofanya uamuzi wa kujenga uwanja mpya karibu na mpaka wetu ili kuchukua na kuwahudumia wageni tuliowafukuza. Kwa kupitia safu hii, sisi tulitimiza wajibu wetu kwa kuishauri Serikali ichukue hatua haraka lakini iliendelea kuweka pamba masikioni.

Tatizo, si kwamba hatuhitaji viwanja. Tunavihitaji sana. Hata kiwezekana kila
mkoa uwe na uwanja mkubwa wa ndege. Tatizo ni kwamba, kuna haja gani kujenga
vingine wakati tumeshindwa kutunza hivyo tulivyo navyo tayari. Kama hutuwezi
maintenance kwani tujenge vingine. Tatizo la pili. Tunajenga bomba, tuna
ng'ombe? Tuna ndege gapi? Shirika la ATCL lina ndege ngapi?
 
Hakuna hasiye taka hivyo viwanja hata wakitaka kila mji, tatizo uhuni
wa kusemasema tu bila matendo. Uwanja wa songwe mbeya sasa hivi karibu
miaka 10 wapo tu hela zinatoka kwa mbinde. Sasa hizo za vingine
zitatoka wapi au ndo hiyo mikopo iliyobatizwa jina la misaada?
 
MEMBERS of Parliament on Friday criticized Kenya's move to start building an International Airport at Taveta, only seven kilometres inside Kenya near the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA).

They argued that the move smacked of economic sabotage to Tanzania and against East African Community Protocols that discourage investments that compete as this.

The move, by Kenya, a partner in the East Africa Community, was noted by the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Defence, Security and Foreign Affairs as likely to pose a challenge to the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) and the country's economy in the northern circuit.

Former Prime Minister, Mr Edward Lowassa (Monduli- CCM), who is the head of the committee, said they had declared and opposed the neighbouring country's move and asked the minister for East African Community, Mr Sammuel Sitta, to immediately implement the resolution.

"We reject the move by Kenya and this is not going to stop here as the minister will implement the resolution, Tanzania has KIA and they plan to build at Taveta just near another international airport? That is sabotage," he said.

Kenyan officials say that the new airport to be located a short distance from Holili, the border post between the two countries on the Moshi-Voi-Mombasa highway, is aimed at tapping the tourism potential in both Kenya and Tanzania.

Also to be built in the area is an inland port to handle cargo traffic from Mombasa to the hinterland and landlocked countries in the region and northern regions, especially Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Manyara.

The Committee was also shocked following revelations that the Ministry of East Africa Community was operating in the worst financial squeeze among all other ministries.

Members raised concern over the case of the ministry's budget operating on a 1.3bn/- debt annually, as it gets 11bn/- and remains with only 3bn/- after its annual contribution of 8bn/- to the EAC.

Mr Sitta said that the ministry was operating without a research unit that would enable them to inform Tanzanians about the implications of the steps the Community was taking and where they can take advantage of opportunities across the region.

He said halting the flow of finances to the ministry has constrained many crucial activities that would be important to Tanzanians.

The Maswa MP, Mr John Shibuda, asked if the central government would take corrective measures to facilitate the ministry such that it works more diligently for the benefit of Tanzanians.

"There is a need for intense research by this ministry, otherwise our move into the community will be like a shot in the dark, for each step that we make," he said.

The MP for Manyoni East, Captain John Chiligati, said that since the EAC is meant to be people-centred, it was only prudent to significantly scale up the budget.
