KILIMANJARO Christian Medical University College (KCMU) in Moshi will get a 130 million US dollars (about 221bn/-) grant from the US government to improve training in medicine to promote efficiency in health services delivery.

This was revealed here on Sunday by the KCMU Provost, Professor Egbert Kessi during 12th graduation ceremony of KCMU which is one of the constituent colleges of Tumaini University. The grant is a commitment by the US government to several universities globally.

He also thanked the Duke University for maintaining close cooperation with KCMU, revealing that from this academic year all medical students will be provided with Information and Communication Technology gadgets to keep them abreast with emerging technologies.

Prof Kessi also commended the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for sponsoring students who are pursuing Masters Degrees in Public Health, Science and Medicine, a sponsorship which has led to an increase in the number of medical experts.
