UNDAP ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE GOVERNANCE PROJECT COORDINATOR- ZANZIBAR

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Tanzania invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to occupy the position of UNDAP Environment and Climate Change Governance Project Coordinator for Zanzibar implemented by the First Vice President's Office (VPO). The incumbent will primarily be responsible for providing technical leadership and overall coordination for the project. She/he will be based in Zanzibar, reporting directly to the Director of Planning Policy and Research, First Vice President's Office and working closely with UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities
A coherent project team and effective coordination between the project and existing initiatives at FVPO and in other relevant MDAs
Project monitoring plan developed and preparation of regular technical and financial progress reports.Establishing relationship between senior government officials, NGOs and private sector with the project to gather support for achieving the project goals.
Detailed annual work plans, budgets and FACE requests prepared for the project.
Supervision conducted for project staff as well as management of consultants and sub-contractors for ensuring that project institutional arrangement is effectively functioning.
Preparation of policy briefs, technical papers and lessons learning articles based on the project and publishing in key local media.
Create and maintain a network of Climate Change focal points in key MDAs and other external partners for effective engagement in the project implementation.
Strategic partnership established with project partners, donor organizations, NGOs and other groups to ensure effective coordination of project activities.
Business plan established and fundraising initiatives conducted for consolidating project interventions.

Academic qualifications, experience and skills:


A minimum of ten (10) years of post-graduate professional experience in high-level advocacy work in areas of climate change, environment or sustainable development with experience in the developing countries including East Africa and preferably Tanzania.
A broad experience and knowledge of climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Knowledge and experience in national financing mechanisms and institutional frameworks for climate change governance would be welcome.
Understanding of climate change and sustainable development challenges for developing countries, with the ability to work at local and national level in policy linkages and adaptation/mitigation priorities
Strong spoken Swahili an added advantage
