Buzwagi holds gold pour marathon - 07/22/2009
Buzwagi performed a "pour-a-thon" this week, conducting four gold pours in succession to produce 20 bars of gold worth about US$10 million.
"We had several challenges to overcome last week in the refinery which prevented us from pouring gold when we had planned," explains Julie Shuttleworth, process plant manager. "To ensure we got the gold poured in time for boxing and shipment we executed a pour-a-thon -- basically a marathon pouring effort. We started at 6 p.m. one evening and ended at 3 a.m. We conducted four pours in succession for 20 bars. Then we weighed, drilled, and stamped the bars ready for boxing and export documentation.
